I dont know where the billions went, but I am pretty sure Marcos didnt take any of it with him. I am sure he was corrupt, as is everyone, from the Burangay Captain, to the dude illegally selling Diesel fuel on the street. I was in Manila in 2014, 2015, and I will be there next week. Actually, the place looks pretty good, except it is too crowded for me. Every direction I looked, for as far as I could see, there were construction cranes everywhere, so its growing well.
As I mentioned, my wifes family loved Marcos, warts and all. I was not politically astute then, so its hard for me to judge. They like Duterte too. He is draining the swamp.

I’m happy for the people, but nostalgic for the Manila I knew.

I know he had a couple of buildings downtown manhattan and probably swiss or grand cayman money. He lived opulently for a few decades and I believe made some of his friends billionaires. m Unfortunately not my inlaws. My original pout was there was much that Manilla needed that he didn’t seem interested in.
