Even a political moron is able to understand what words like “I hope”, “provided that” mean in a diplomatic speech and then their real meaning when transferred to practice.
Polish President Duda quotation: “I hope Turkey and the EU will continue on the same path ... leading to a full membership for Turkey.”
This simply means: “You will never be eligible if you do not comply with the European standards. So, by now, forget about any membership. But, since we're believers, let's have a hope. Miracle happens.”
