A U.S. Air Force chaplain who ministers to thousands of men and women at an Ohio base is asserting that Christians in the U.S. Armed Forces serve Satan and are grossly in error if they support service members' right to practice other faiths.
In an article posted on BarbWire.com three days ago, Captain Sonny Hernandez, an Air Force Reserve chaplain for the 445th Airlift Wing at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio, criticized Christian service members who rely on the Constitution and not Christ.
He wrote: Counterfeit Christians in the Armed forces will appeal to the Constitution, and not Christ, and they have no local church homewhich means they have no accountability for their souls (Heb. 13:17). This is why so many professing Christian service members will say: We support everyones right to practice their faith regardless if they worship a god different from ours because the Constitution protects this right.

I wonder if ‘Sonny” is an Anglicized version of his name
I thought this was satire, but apparently it’s not (?)
Capt Hernandez needs to go back and read the Constitution. He may be a Chaplain, but he still took the oath to uphold and defend the Constitution. Idiot should be stripped of his commission and sent packing.
Enjoy your new career Sonny.
I know, I find this odd, as I know there are Buddhists and Sikhs who have always served honorably. I’m sure there’s quite a few officially recognized and supported religions in the US Military.
The chaplain doesn’t understand a theological/moral right versus a secular right.
God gave us free will; we should use it to do the right things, but we may choose to do the wrong thing.
They just had to get a quote from that idiot Mikey Weinstein blaming it on Trump. Mikey is an embarrassment to all of us USAFA grads. A complete jack off.
And Muslims, don't you know.
My thought on it is different.
I wouldn’t blame it on our troops serving out their commitment and trying to focus on their duty.
I do think bad policy decisions are made at the top.
As for Islam vs Christianity, if folks want to join and be an Islamist, I wish they would do it in the part of the world that accepts it now. Go there. Enjoy your life. Leave us alone.
Our leaders have no business bringing in a people who do not want to become Americanized, but only wish to dominate.
Our leaders have no business bringing potential terrorists to our shores, and that will remain so until Islam decides to grow up and join the rest of the human race in respecting other people’s beliefs.
So far all I see is a demand for us to respect Islam.
We hear how Islamic role playing is incorporated into our schools. I have never in my life heard an Islamic entity introducing Christian role playing to improve understanding on their part.
I NEVER see Islamic people urged to respect Christians.
Until they do, I’m not a fan of them being in our nation, even if born here.
They aren’t interested in being Americanized. They are only interested in building dominance.
Not buying in.
Ahh the Hispanic Convert to Protestant heresy has the balls to say others will go to hell
He is correct in that if they are true followers of Christ, His law is higher than the Constitution. On the job, they are to obey the laws of man and Government. In their hearts, they are to obey “a higher law”. This may be a deliberate reporting of the situation.
Sonny can believe anything that he wants to believe. I’m fine with that.
However, when he decided to take a job with the USAF, he signed paperwork that, among other things, acknowledged his place in the scheme of things. Chief of the Thought Police, and Chief Inquisitor were, I’m quite certain, not even jokingly thought to be part of his job description.
I’m pretty certain that Sonny will be a preacher somewhere, but not while wearing the USAF uniform for much longer...and I certainly hope not past this weekend.
The second most common symbol on grave stones in Arlington Cemetery is probably the Star of David.
No doubt.
I think the good Chaplin has over-stepped his position in the USAF a bit.
Sorry Captain Hernandez but the United States is not a theocracy. It is a constitutional republic with certain rights enshrined in its constitution, including freedom of religion. This is, by the way, the same constitution that you presumably swore an oath to preserve and defend against all enemies foreign and domestic. All of which begs the question... were your really that ignorant when taking your oath, or were you simply lying? In any event you are manifestly unfit for military service. Please turn in your uniform and military ID on your way out of the building. Have a nice day.
And there’s the rub...the constitution is a manmade thing that will dissolve away into history while the words of Christ will remain forever. Christ came into the world to save men, each of them individually, not all of us collectively! So God saves men, as for nations, he builds them us and casts them down. If he truly believes what he is saying...then yes he probably will be separated from service...but since he is Hispanic and not a white anglo-saxon American Christian...the libtards will be perplexed over this one. The Captain is correct and if he truly sticks to what he believes then he will have to come out of that particular branch of “harlot pagan Babylon” that the US military has become!
With all due respect to Capt. Hernandez, I think that he needs to consider Romans 13:1-2. That passage shows that the Holy Spirit led Paul to clarify that God has established all authority, including the Constitution imo.
Insights welcome.
An Airr Force chaplain gets paid whether he is performing a communion, a shabbats, or a ritual.
He is paid to be a chaplain for ALL the military members, without exclusion.
For him to speak condemnation, is not in
the military chaplain manual
