Donald Trump: Let DACA Recipients Stay; Not Amnesty

President Donald Trump argued that allowing DACA recipients to stay in the United States would not be amnesty. “We’re looking at allowing people to stay here,” Trump said to reporters in Florida on Thursday.

He insisted that his deal with Democrats on DACA recipients would not be amnesty.

“We’re not looking at citizenship, we’re not looking at amnesty,” Trump said.

On Air Force One however, a White House spokesperson confirmed that “legal citizenship over a period of time” for DACA recipients would likely be part of a deal. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi insisted that the plan would offer them a “path to citizenship.”

Some are just to dense to understand it so they do what the Dems do and make "analogies" that don't fit.

If the President is to get anything done wit the treachery of Ryan and McConnell and others to deal with, what would your solution be?

They don’t need credentials. Family has always been more important to Trump than non-family.

That’s right. The Trump Admin can’t deport 800,000 youngsters, many of whom left Mexico and other countries at such a young age that they don’t remember living there. The polling is strongly against deportation of these kids among people in both parties. The media coverage of a mass deportation would be awful and would finish Trump politically—he’s be down to a 20% approval rating, at most.

But politically, the Trump Admin doesn’t have to do much more than renew their work permits and not deport these kids. They don’t need to legislate a path to citizenship, and they certainly can stop chain migration of more relatives in other countries moving into the US. They won’t deport the relatives who are already here, because then they’d look heartless for breaking up families. But with a few exceptions, such as parents, they can stop more relatives from migrating into the US. Cousins, uncles, and grandparents are out of luck, especially considering the kids won’t be citizens.

This could end up in a standoff in congress, with democrats and RINOs insisting on a special legislated path to citizenship and conservatives standing firm for no special treatment on a path to citizenship (except maybe for youngsters serving in the US military). This could end in a standoff for a long time, with no legislation passed, and the Trump Admin just renewing their work permits so they can work, and not deporting these youngsters.

Agreed. Non-citizens should never get the help reserved for citizen benefits that we call the safety net.

I would allow them to stay on 3 conditions:

1. The wall is built.

2. Obamacare is repealed and replaced with health insurance being put on the free market.

3. Hillary Clinton is finally indicted.

“What exactly are the credentials of these two outside of being family for the positions they hold in this administration?.”

I have no idea as to what their credentials are other then being family and loyal.

THIS DACA guy ...killed this US teen ..then set him on fire....DACCA needs more than just a reset!

21 year-old Hermilo Moralez was found guilty of murder, to the killing his former classmate !18 year-old Joshua Wilkerson who was found dead in a field.....Moralez told officials that he beat Wilkerson unconscious with a piece of wood at his father’s home. .... Wilkerson’s body was found with his hands and feet tied. The body was also partially burned.

The VETTING PROCESS FOR DACA like the vetting process for OBAMA were neither very good, obviously!

Of course it’s amnesty. By definition, amnesty is sparing someone legal consequences otherwise due to them.

These illegals should all be tossed back to their home countries, or wherever else they want to go, and Trump is pushing legislation to instead let them stay. Even worse—to instead let them stay and be put on a path to citizenship.

This happens far too any times....and of course this guys parents moved back to their home country.

Dacca kids are not the innocent their parents profess them to be.....obviously..

That kid was a black belt karate guy.....beat the crap out of that kid...choked him hard enough to break his larynx..ruptured his spleen and a host of other body parts.....terrible beating....then threw gas on him and set hi on fire....

I'm fairly certain that if Trump wants this, which it sounds like based on his tweets defending the "dreamers", that RINOs and Democrats easily outnumber actual Conservatives.

Many blubbering pro-amnesty buffoons are exposing themselves on this thread.

“We can’t deport illegals, the liberal media will complain.”

“We can let them stay but stop them from getting citizenship.”

“It’s worth amnesty to get the wall.”

Amnesty and open border supporters all of you.

....”That DACA SHOULD reap the toughest sentence allotted in that state!..

I haven't heard a single DACA person who doesn't have an entitlement attitude even when they commit a crime.....and none of the others are appreciative of about ‘the PRIVILEDGE’ they've been given on this ‘temporary DACA......rather they too think this entitles them to stay in this country however long they want. Those attitudes are anti-American!

When DACA s came with all the benefits and programs, it should have been explained that our system would hand out strongest penalties should they hurt Americans in any way!
