President Donald Trump argued that allowing DACA recipients to stay in the United States would not be amnesty. “We’re looking at allowing people to stay here,” Trump said to reporters in Florida on Thursday.
He insisted that his deal with Democrats on DACA recipients would not be amnesty.
“We’re not looking at citizenship, we’re not looking at amnesty,” Trump said.
On Air Force One however, a White House spokesperson confirmed that “legal citizenship over a period of time” for DACA recipients would likely be part of a deal. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi insisted that the plan would offer them a “path to citizenship.”

We’re not going to let every registered dreamer stay. But realistically, it doesn’t make sense to throw some babies out with the bathwater. The number of highly educated/trained Dreamers in specialized fields is probably pretty small - a few thousand maybe? Maybe ten thousand? It makes financial sense to retain those assets who obtained specialized knowledge and/or degrees (especially those obtained under AA - shhhh - we can’t ‘say that’ in public) and get a return on our investment. Those that have taken our liberties, our compassion and our generosity for granted, they’re outa here (and that would be in the millions).
For a select few, extended visas, renewable once a year, with a 10 year or so wait for citizenship and voting rights, same as if they had to wait in line in the first place (so, no ‘anchor babies’ will count) would work to our advantage. And, we should subtract the number we do allow to stay from each yearly allowed quota for that/those countries of origin for the same 10 years, so we can work towards getting legal immigration, and competition for jobs, balanced again.

I felt more sanguine about our Trump votes after watching just 5 minutes of Rachel Maddow’s lovefest with Hitlery pontificating on the need for experienced people in the State Dept to effectively deal with North Korea. Check it out and I think you might feel a little better.
If the Wall is not well under way by election time get ready to say President Warren and VP Kamala Harris in 2020. I think that’s what McConnell and Ryan want.

This third term for Obama is not to my liking.
I’m not upset about DACA recipients staying as long as the program ends. This is nothing but a distraction from building that wall.
Trump needs to earn our support with deeds not empty promises and slogans. Amnesty is the opposite of a support-earning deed.
I know exactly where Trump going with this. Dreamers will go to head of the line to apply for work permits or legal immigration. Good!

Actually that is exactly the position he took during the campaign. Everyone would have to go back and get in line. Everyone here remembers that but quite a few will ignore it and call those that do a #NeverTrumper.
