If Trump can be pushed into the arms of political suicide, he is not the person we thought he was.
There is no rhyme or reason for any of this. If the Republican Congress does nothing, it would be far better for Trump to tread water and wait for the next election.
If someone fights for you to the end and loses.... you respect them. If they flip just to get along you think of them as a traitor to your cause.

It’s never a good idea to take Trump’s words at face value. He likes to say things that have one meaning but that later parse out to mean something else. He loves doing that.
As for meeting w/ Schumer and Pelosi, my guess is Trump has a BIG BIG surprise in store for them. A surprise that will make them cower in fear and loathing. Not to Trump-—but to another not-surprising target.
