Washington (CNN)Texas Sen. Ted Cruz told reporters Tuesday it was a "staffing issue" that led to a pornographic video being "liked" by his Twitter account -- which has since been removed.
"It was a staffing issue and it was inadvertent, it was a mistake, it was not a deliberate action," Cruz said, according to The Washington Post. He added: "We're dealing with it internally but it was a mistake, it was not malicious conduct."
An aide to Cruz confirmed the comments to CNN, adding that there would be an internal effort to figure out who was responsible.
Cruz declined to comment when asked by CNN about the incident.

How does one get to a porn video on Twitter without following someone tweeting out porn or without going to the Twitter feed of someone tweeting out porn?

No. Someone was looking at a porn site and inadvertently (or on purpose) clicked the "Like" button for Twitter. Since it was from a computer where Cruz's Twitter account was already signed in, it automatically posted the "like" on his Twitter feed.
I explained how I thought it possible that someone faked an account name and tweet, then later changed them.
But having found the account in question, as I refer to above, I no longer think that’s likely (still physically possible, perhaps, but the account in question seems to be a “real” porn oriented account rather than some temporary political hit operation as I had speculated).

oooh I didn’t know that was possible, I assumed it all happened within Twitter.... so someone may have clicked “like” at the porn site and it showed up on the Twitter feed???
Ok, well that makes it far far more likely that it did indeed come from someone operating the Ted Cruz Twitter account, but we still don’t know for sure whether it was Ted or a staffer. I have trouble imagining Ted doing his own Twitter, so I’m gonna guess “staffer” but it will be interesting to see how this plays out.
He needs to identify the video so we can determine his competence.
