WASHINGTON/BEIJING (Reuters) -- U.S. President Donald Trump said on Thursday he would prefer not to use military action against North Korea to counter its nuclear and missile threat but that if he did it would be a "very sad day" for the leadership in Pyongyang.
Trump again pointedly declined to rule out a U.S. military response following North Korea's sixth and most powerful nuclear test as his administration seeks increased economic sanctions, saying Pyongyang was "behaving badly and it's got to stop."
"Military action would certainly be an option. Is it inevitable? Nothing is inevitable," Trump said during a news conference.
I would prefer not going the route of the military," Trump said. "If we do use it on North Korea, it will be a very sad day for North Korea."
Even as Trump has insisted that now is not the time to talk to North Korea, senior members of his administration have made clear that the door to a diplomatic solution remains open, especially given the U.S. assessment that any pre-emptive strike would unleash massive North Korean retaliation.
While Trump talked tough on North Korea, China agreed on Thursday that the United Nations should take more action against Pyongyang but also kept pushing for dialogue to help resolve the standoff.....

If we take action it may start with the destruction of the artillery near the DMZ that is pointed at Seoul. This might be initiated with a string of low-yield neutron weapons.
Next we would take out everything launched by the north shortly after takeoff...when it is totally vulnerable.
Then there might be a pause to see if Kim want’s to make a deal that exiles him but allows him to live.
It’s possible that a war on NK might result in only a few thousand dead...mainly the artillery crews.

I don’t think the US arsenal contains any neutron warheads. Maybe I’m wrong. That was a huge deal when I was in HS in the mid-70’s and we basically gave them up back then.
People here forget that South Korea has an Army with counter-battery fire to fight back against the KPA’s cannons. You can’t destroy a large city of 25 million with one salvo.
That is the key— knock out the dmz threat in 5 minutes. Make sure you have a southwest wind and then take out the fat faced bastard and his nukes. Time is of the essence. GO TRUMP!!

Although no country is currently known to deploy them in an offensive manner, all thermonuclear dial-a-yield warheads that have about 10 kiloton and lower as one dial option, with a considerable fraction of that yield derived from fusion reactions, can be considered able to be neutron bombs in use, if not in name.

I had not thought of that, but I’m sure you are correct.
I am not a nuclear munitions expert but I always assumed they did dial a yield by choosing how much tritium/deuterium to release just before the fission stage is fired.
What they need to happen is a short but energetic burst of neutrons...I’m sure that can’t be too hard to engineer.
There is a time for fighting and a time for FIGHTING. I don't doubt that NK poses some danger. I think 'lil Kim shows signs of inbreeding (i.e., he may be crazy), and it's a situation worth monitoring.
But insofar as the same Deep State that's thwarting Trump's agenda is also pushing a Hillaryesque warmongering theme, and given the preponderance of globalists that WANT us to nuke NK, I'd like to think all rational adults - old and young - have a solid basis for skepticism.

I also have NO doubt that Trump and Mattis aren't dumb like the prior administration. We have adults in the White House who do not signal the US' strategy on CNN.
I think a more plausible scenario with Trump and Mattis is Kim's Generals start dropping dead during team dinners. After a restless night's sleep, Kim awakens to this...
Psyops....We'd never know about it, but I suspect it would be VERY effective at neutralizing Kim. If you give it enough time, and get enough subversive element into NK, then maybe the poor people of North Korea will do a Ceaușescu on Kim.
