Evangelicals draw critics with 'Nashville Statement' on sexuality

Published August 30, 2017

A group of evangelical leaders who released “the Nashville Statement” on Tuesday -- reiterating Christian viewpoints toward same-sex marriage and transgender rights -- have come under fire from Nashville's mayor and critics on social media.

The Council on Biblical Manhood and Womanhood (CBMW), consisting of a number of evangelical Christian leaders, published a manifesto aimed at addressing issues of sexuality. It was endorsed by scholars, pastors and leaders at a Nashville conference Friday.

“The spirit of our age does not delight in God’s good design of male and female. Consequently, confusion reigns over some of the most basic questions of our humanity,” CBMW President Denny Burk said in the statement.

“The aim of the Nashville Statement is to shine a light into the darkness – to declare the goodness of God’s design in our sexuality and in creating us as male and female.”

...Other Twitter users denouned the statement for alleged bigoted views.

HBO’s Silicon Valley star Kumail Nanjiani, tweeted to his 1.7 million followers: F*** the #NashvilleStatement. F*** the evil s--- that people justify using religion.”

“The God I know does not support the #NashvilleStatement,” wrote Black Lives Matter leader Deray Mckesson.

Moms Demand founder Shannon Watts attacked the group that drafted the document for voting for Trump and suggesting “Jesus has been hijacked.”

The statements seem like a reiteration of common Christian held dogma but there is plenty of criticism.

have come under fire from Nashville's mayor and critics on social media.

Screw these people using 'social media" as a bludgeon to suppress anything they don't like - but especially people of principle need not go weak in the knees because some goober with a cell phone calls them names.

This is historic Christian teaching.

The fact that it is so controversial speaks to its divine origin.

Tennessee seems to have succumbed to collective madness. The politicians are all anti-Trump, they are being complicit in the effort to erase their history, and they are now signing on to the “sexual revolution”. When are the good people of Tennessee going to put a stop to this insanity?

Nashville's mayor and critics on social media

We could feed Nashville's mayor and critics on social media to ISIS in Syria.

ISIS will "sort out" their problems with religion...

2013 Assembly of Canonical Orthodox Bishops (USA) Statement on Marriage and Sexuality

http://assemblyofbishops.org/about/documents/2013-assembly-statement-on-marriage-and-sexuality

We Orthodox say essentially the same thing as the evangelicals. But most social media basically ignore us, because we are fewer in number in the US, and don’t make as big a splash politically. But here we are—the oldest continuing historic Christian Church!!!!

You’ll notice the statement has no real penalties attached to it. So this is a “We only care because you disagree with us” response.
Meanwhile, AntiFa threatens to kill people they don’t like.

Tennessee went for Trump in the election of 2016. So the “madness” is of limited effect!!!!

SCIENCE agrees with the Evangelicals.

It is NOT scientifically possible that two genetic males or two genetic females could “create” a baby together — without artificial “help”.

Therefore, there can not be an INHERITED or NATURAL life-style-choice “gene”.

Therefore, as scientists have known for thousands of years, sexual deviance is DEVIANCE.

You need to quit worshiping demons, Deray. Nothing good lies at the end of the road you're on. REPENT, Deray! Turn aside from you wickedness and seek The Lord!

Oh gee. Did they really draw critics? Really? Is that really the story here? Someone who stands for what’s right and true “draws critics”?????

Stupid MSM.

"Silicon Valley star Kumail Nanjiani

Who? Never heard of it, whatever it is. Definitely sounds like someone I wouldn't want to meet or know.

The insularity of the MSM really boggles the mind. I doubt that even 5% of Americans have heard about or care who this chump is. Maybe that's why the MSM fancy themselves as so awesomely "leet".

I get Denny Burk’s newsletter because on the internet I sparred with him on ECT vs CI (He’s ECT and I’m CI). He’s actually located at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary near Churchil downs in Louisville. I drive by it every day and keep thinking I need to introduce myself.

I heard him on Medved yesterday. This whole thing is comical. His group is simply re-affirming what the bible says. It is not writing laws. It is similar to, in a particular church, writing down what your particular congregation believes.

The fact that it is being attacked shows the ludicrous and ignorance based boldness of the left which, truth be told, is their attempt at bullying Christianity. Fortunately, Trump is not Hillary so they can pound sand.

But the day will come when they will win...before they lose once and for all.

Correction above. I'm sure that's true.
