Same here - bought maybe 3 pairs over the last 50 years and they stayed white for about a week if I was lucky..

TO #9. What to wear to a hurricane. Since I’ve been through many big hurricanes since the 1950’s (Diane and one other, Agnes, Camille, Sam Slebotsky, etc, including a typhoon in Taiwan that flooded downtown Taichung) and monsons in Vietnam and Guatemala, I’ve become an expert on what to wear during them.
In no particular order
* Body Armor
* Heavy Metal Helmets
* Shatterproof glasses
* Mail chain armor under the Kevlar armor
* Very high hip boots without laces
* Bathing suit as underwear
* A location transponder in matching colors to the armor
* A really high quality Mae West vest (as Groucho might say, “I’d rather wear Mae West herself, but she’s not available right now”
* Heels are definitely out
* If you don’t have any of the above, a large black heavy duty trash bag will do
* Kathy Griffith makeup
* Nancy Pelosi makeup
* Madonna’s skanky underwear
* Rosie O’Donnell’s t-shirt and underarm deodorant
* Sen. Elizabeth Warren’s Indian headdress (you know that storms respect “native Americans”)
* a name tag so that the coroner can notify your relatives that all of the above failed to stop the hurricane and you, like a fool, when out in it to play
In words, get the hell out of Dodge when they tell you what is coming your way. Oh, and take a change of underway. You do want to remains sociable to your new refugee friends.
