FULL TITLE: If Democrat Senator Bob Menendez is Convicted For Corruption, Everything Could Change With Obamacare Repeal
Here's a story that's been flying under the radar at the national news level. New Jersey's Democrat Senator Bob Menendez is about to go on trial for corruption. The jury selection started today and press was not allowed access to the process. The Senator was indicted two years ago and ethics experts say it is extremely rare for a sitting congressman or senator to be indicted on the charges Menendez currently faces. From the New York Times:
Mr. Menendez stands accused of using his position to advance the interests of Dr. Salomon Melgen, a friend and political patron, in exchange for luxury vacations and hundreds of thousands of dollars of campaign support.
Even a bribery conviction would not automatically force Mr. Menendez from office, under the Senate rules. He would either have to voluntarily resign his seat, or two-thirds of his Senate colleagues — meaning 15 Democrats — would have to vote to expel him.
Democrats largely have met Mr. Menendez’s upcoming trial with silence, happy to let the daily torrent of Trump administration news overshadow it, refusing to speculate about the senator’s future even as some, most notably Mr. Torricelli, have begun to position themselves should Mr. Menendez step aside or be convicted.

Conviction is years away. A plea maybe, but conviction, not under DJT.
Gov. Christie should appoint Assemblyman Jon Bramnick or State Senator Tom Kean, Jr. in December if Menendez is convicted, expelled, censured, or resigns.

If the trial is held in Newark (or anywhere in NJ), he will get off Scott Free ... you can count on it.
The jury will be of his constituents, that you can be assured of.
Unfortunately this will be a “Nothing-Burger” story.

This is Big and deserves more coverage.
Resignation? No. A conviction is a badge of honor and a resume builder in the democrat party. We could ask Marion Barry, if we could, and Alcee Hastings, former Federal Judge from Florida Impeached, convicted, kicked off the bench for accepting bribes, and then elected to the House of Representatives as a Democrat.
They will stall this out. Christy will not get a chance to replace Menendezo
unless he holds out until January 16, 2018.
It probably will, and Hildebeast, Comey, Debbie Wasserman Shultz, and Susan Rice will continue to skate, and Seth Rich is still dead.
This so-called trial won’t go any place. The Dems will get him tried before some Rat judge and the trial will be a farce.
Getting rid of this crooked SOB is just a GOP pipe dream.
Far, far more guilty is Harry reid. I’m still hoping for a Grand Jury.

Don’t kid yourself. The Republicans don’t want it repealed. All you will see is another Pubbie Senator defect at the time of the vote. Bet on it.

It is a ploy that both parties use.
They only reveal enough "no voters" to scuttle a bill.
Others who are ready to vote no stay camoflaged by voting yes.
Until the time comes when they need another no vote.
