The odds were always long. It was apparent to me, years ago, that if Trump actually won the election, there could be no normal transition. That the only peaceful way to solve this is to have a convention of the states to hold Nuremberg-style treason trials and hangings on the national mall.

At the present time, Rice has no need to know. At the present time, Rice should not have access. Giving access to people who don't have a need to know, can only increase the risk of a classified material breach. That's a fundamental principle for handling classified material.
I am not sure why you have this obsession with the phrase "Need to Know."

Nobody gets access to classified material with a need to know. Nobody!
All it means is that she doesn't have to gain specific approval to her own work product when called up by congress.
No, it means she can have access at any point to classified material that she has previously had access to, without a Need to Know.
No one is going to be approving that stuff on a case by case basis just because it makes you happy.

I thought that was one of his strengths and instead it’s proven to be his biggest weakness.

I agree, but I think that speaks more to the corruption-totality of the swamp more than Trump’s judgements.
He knew that in order to MAGA, he needed to make hiring overtures to the rinos in the kabuki party. He was repaid with treachery.

I tend to think since chief of staff John Kelly has broad authority to clean house, in a West Wing that has been hobbled by infighting and leaks, this is just part of the house cleaning.
Kelly runs a tight ship and so getting rid of the drama so all parties can work on Trumps agenda and move forward is a good idea. But make no mistake it is true..”Bannon had a good run!”....

It’s very possible. Now the emboldened left and the establishment will be on a feeding frenzy, and the most ardent Trump supporters will start feeling betrayed and may end up abandoning him.
If he losses his base he’s done. And if and when Pence takes over he will be easy pickings for the left and the media. If Trump couldn’t get it done, Pence won’t have a prayer. He’ll castrate himself publicly to satisfy the leftists.
Meanwhile conservatives totally dispondent and depressed will rage against their own party that betrayed them again and will stay home on the next election, letting the Rats have free rein and totally dominate and run the country to the ground for the next generation or two.
The swamp will have won.
