A number of news outlets have shared a recently uploaded YouTube video that reportedly a group of Brooklyn firefighters manually lifting a moving a small vehicle en route to an emergency.

I seem to remember that some rural fire chief replaced his SUV with a pickup truck and equipped it with one of those multi ton wenches. It was mentioned that he used it more to move cars out of the way of fire engines and fire hydrants than anything else.

That’s nothing. When I was in the Marine Corps, someone blocked the exit to a free to park lot. Me and about 6 other Marines picked up and moved the persons car out of the way. For inconveniencing everyone, we moved the car perpendicularly between two broken down vehicles in the lot.

I was walking thru Norfolk Naval Shipyard one day when I saw their solution to an illegally parked car in a parallel space.

The flatbed was there, and a forklift rolled up. Forked the car out of the space, then it was winched up onto the flatbed and taken away.

Doesn’t surprise me. I’ve been in the fire service for 35 years. Firefighters don’t know the meaning of “can’t”. They always find a way.
