I have read them as well.....the Afghanistan men haven’t a clue what intimacy with women is about. One female GI revealed
the relationship between the sexes is purely to produce children....she tried to teach one guy about tenderness toward his wife who couldn’t even begin to grasp what she was talking about.
Real problem is these refugee men around the world now are just like them.

People are still people, so relationships vary quite a bit, on a case by case basis.
In about half of Afghan marriages, they are first cousins. Often they have known each other well through their whole childhood. I know some where the wife can bat her eyelashes and get pretty much whatever she wants from her smitten husband. In many cases though, there are poorly adjusted men (orphans, child rape survivors, traumatized war survivors, bisexuals who prefer men, etc.) who are emotionally dysfunctional.
People often forget the magnitude and extent of the disasters that the Afghans have been through - anyone of which you would expect to produce psychological damage. They fought the Third World War against the Soviet Union that we prepared for. They suffered through a Khmer Rouge like (Khalq) dictatorship before that. They had years of Mad Max chaos after the Soviets, with gangs and militias ruling the roads, and fighting street to street in the capital city for years, with tanks and cannons. And then they had the Taliban take over with Pakistani support. Child Soldiers, mass executions, horrific torture, famine, mass migration, ethnic cleansing, family/tribal/societal collapse.
