Somali immigrant cop Mohamed Noor, who shot Jessica Damond, was 'highly celebrated' by Minneapolis mayor in 2015
The Somali-born Minnesota police officer alleged to have shot and killed an unarmed Australian woman on Saturday had been lauded by Minneapolis mayor and feted by the local community when he joined the force in 2015.
I want to take a moment to recognize Officer Mohamed Noor, the newest Somali officer in the Minneapolis Police Department, Mayor Betsy Hodges wrote in a Facebook post when Noor began serving the city. Officer Noor has been assigned to the 5th Precinct, where his arrival has been highly celebrated, particularly by the Somali community in and around Karmel Mall.
In fact, The Washington Post reported that community threw a party for Noor the first Somali-American officer to serve in the precinct. Minneapolis is home to one of the nation's largest Somali communities.
He came to the United States at a young age and is thankful to have had so many opportunities, Thomas Plunkett, Noors attorney, said Monday.
For him, being a police officer is a calling.

The Somali community I assume. More of those savages there (Minneapolis) than anywhere in US.

What is it, I wonder, that I am bringing you down from? Your high-horse? Your fact-light rant?
Yes, keen insight, here.
You enjoy your fudgesicle how you want and I will do the same with mine. Maybe you are 100% right about what happened. But spare us the mind-reading and lecture on religious doctrine. I wonder what the thug was doing to make the poor cop shoot her. It is well know that thugs do things that make cops shoot them, you know how the Amish are. This little thugette was clearly in the wrong and we are lucky that the brave cop shot her before she went on a rampage. Please chime in on how that is why you carry a gun, in case a feral like this tries to get the drop on you. Have we dredged up any dirt on the little slut foreigner yet? I am not virtue signaling - I am shaming you (or attempting to do so) - have a blessed day, child of Christ.
No.
Agreed. As a defense mechanism, I want to think this cop is not a fair representation of all police and would like to find another reason for his actions other than ‘a cop was scared so he blew an unarmed woman away’. Not engendering trust with the Police, that is for sure.
I know who killed this innocent woman; it was THE ONE ARMED MAN!
Why isn’t this rotten cop behind bars right now?
We’re tired of virtue signalling. Doing it is PC, calling it out is not.
He’s not a fair representation of cops. He’s a Somali asylum seeker who never should have been let in here in the first place, has no respect for our culture and never should have been let on a police force. Now he’s killed some poor woman for no good reason.
Its Islam not thuggery.
This. Foreigners should NOT be working for OUR law enforcement. They end up working against we, the citizens.
Is there a plank in your eye?
But did he yell something about Allah’s snackbar?
Maybe he glimpsed one of her boobs and his latent Jihad mixed with cultural woman-hate mixed with racial hatred just took over.
We probably can never know because both Noor and the department have strong motivation to explain this away as a reasonable reaction to some kind of “tragic” misunderstanding.
I gotta tell ya I’m looking forward to hearing this one splained away. Its gonna be a whopper!
No, I live near and interact with all kinds of people. I am trying to decide if FR is the place for me. I found it in ‘98 talking about long range shooting. Maybe FR has changed, maybe it is me. Anyway, the comments are too nasty to share with friends of mine - so instead of trying to voice my disgust - I will move on.
