I recall an episode involving Ashleigh Banfield back some twenty years ago when she was working as an anchor at some TV station in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. She contributed an article to our university’s alumni journal (we both went to Queen’s, but my time there was a little bit after her’s). It concerned her impressions of living and working in Texas and it was basically a puerile, ignorant screed about guns and racism and other canned sanctimonious talk.

Really showed to me as a young person back then that journalists are not particularly bright nor thoughtful on most fronts.
