From the aerial video over the days on local television there is a massive pile of concrete right behind the tents that are over the hole. The state/county/whoever brought in big back hoes at the beginning. I think they moved the concrete before digging.

I suspect Cosmo did not cover his hole all the well.

It is impossible. You cannot make dirt appear "undisturbed" after only a week or two.

The digging was obvious once they found the location of it.
