While nationalism drives the foreign policies of China, Russia, and as always France, it isn't the biggest factor for world relations. China and Russia are constantly working angles against us, India, Japan, Europe or Australia, but that is normally a slow process.

The dissolution of politically created nations, such as Yugoslavia and Iraq, into ethnic and sectarian offshoots will continue to dominate world politics for a while. Add in the massive uncontrolled migration of middle easterners into Europe and things promise to be interesting. There are a lot more Sudans, and Rwandas to go.

While people like Obama see ethnic, racial, and sectarian divides as part of nationalism, I believe nationalism can exist either with or without those things, and without the two being related.

Though I am by no means a wise man nor one with expert knowledge, my education has at least resulted in the ability, often, to recognize one.

An excellent post, sir.
