MRC's Dan Gainor noticed a fascinating story in Friday's paper on America's historically low birth rate that utterly avoided one obvious factor in population decline: Abortion.
Ariana Eunjung Cha's online report was titled "The U.S. fertility rate just hit a historic low. Why some demographers are freaking out." It began:
The United States is in the midst of what some worry is a baby crisis. The number of women giving birth has been declining for years and just hit a historic low. If the trend continues and experts disagree on whether it will the country could face economic and cultural turmoil.
According to provisional 2016 population data released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Friday, the number of births fell 1 percent from a year earlier, bringing the general fertility rate to 62.0 births per 1,000 women ages 15 to 44.
Millennials are causing the drop:
Those supposedly entitled young adults with fragile egos who live in their parents' basements and hop from job-to-job it turns out they're also much less likely to have babies, at least so far. Some experts think millennials are just postponing parenthood while others fear they're choosing not to have children at all.
This paragraph was the closest to tripping over the abortion issue, a mention of women's "choice."
[Demographer William] Frey attributed the decline in birthrates to a women's lifestyle choice as well as the fact the economy has been in a funk. Times of economic downturn or uncertainty tend to cause a drop in birthrates, but when things turn around they tend to bounce back in a kind of catch-up period.
A look at recent CDC abortion data finds the rate in 2013 was 12.5 abortions per 1,000 women aged 1544 years, and the abortion ratio was 200 abortions per 1,000 live births. The number of abortions (around 650,000 in 2013) has been declining in recent years as well, but that is obviously part of measuring a country's fertility rate.
I know!!!!!!! We should be like Germany and bring in a million or more Muslims. After all, to the ruling elite we are all just interchangable parts. This will be great, since it is working so well for Germany.
Europe is bringing in Muslims. We’re bringing in Hispanics.
Feminism is essentially an anti fertility cult that is contrary to natural law. In an era of neo pagan epicurean decadence, it is very appealing to “modern” women who’s “needs” and aspirations do not include procreation or children. The future belongs to the fertile. If a culture embraces feminism, it withers. Just the way it is.
Recently I dwelt on the difference, the sharp contrast between Nazis and the cultural Marxist.
I gave my opinion of the evil of the former. Of the latter I wrote:
“Cultural Marxism is a neo-Pagan excess of the hatred of your race, your culture, and your national independence as well as of logic, reason and true charity.
“Cultural Marxist commit suicide by abortion, homosexuality, transgenderism and importing Islam.”
In short, the left kills through an abundance of stupidity.
Interesting mix. I'm sure it'll contribute to our social harmony.
I suppose they'll eventually replace our murdered millions one for one.
Divine justice? I don't know. Natural justice ---- by which I mean natural and logical consequences --- that's for sure.

If white women don’t give a damn about having babies they shouldn’t complain when they wake up one day and realize America isn’t what it used to be. And the men who encourage their women to place career over motherhood are also without my sympathy in this regard.
If white ppl don’t want babies, I am not gonna hate on the Mexicans. I see more strollers in Mexicans neighborhoods than white or black ones. Just my observation as I drive through Chicago.
But those Mexicans you see are Catholics...not just ordinary Catholics. Mexican Catholics are far more conservative than American Catholics. Their #1 fear is that their kids will be Americanized, which means being like Justin Bieber, Brittany Spears and the Americans they see in music, movies and TV.
The 50 year war between the sexes egged on by the Left has had its consequences.
Its easy when you have the taxpayer essentially subsidizing one group over another when it comes to child rearing. (Welfare, Medicaid, WIC, EITC, etc.)
The process of assessing the ability to afford a child is foisted off on the taxpayer including those taxpayers who can’t afford children of their own due to the government leviathan picking their pockets at every turn.
That’s clever. We are just interchangeable parts to the global elites.
Thanks for mentioning the other factors...like homosexuality and the trans nonsense.
Knock Knock they want to have babies but they need jobs.It is already starting with my Daughter’s Friends. We have 2 pregnant.
We need to practice what the Bible says.
Not to over-generalize, but a lot of white people I know can’t afford to have kids because the government is taking too much of their paycheck to subsidize the children of the “poor” who are having kids they can’t afford.
Well, to over-generalize back atcha, that's "social justice", doncha know. Why should "the rich" have all the kids?
That's what gubmint is for, to even out all the wrinkles in the world.
"From each according to his ability, to each according to his need the clout of his associated voting bloc."
