When I was sixteen and seventeen that option was looking very attractive. Then as soon as I turned eighteen I started heading for the door and five months later I was out of the house forever. Life got better after that.
But when you’re in the moment it can be almost impossible to imagine a future without the pain even if that future is really just a few months away.
In any case, I’m glad that Ashley’s disgusting stepfather is dead. He did the world a favor by leaving it.
