Reputed Trump confidant and Newsmax CEO Chris Ruddy told PBS Newss Judy Woodruff Monday that President Donald Trump is considering dismissing Special Counsel Robert Mueller, according to a tweet by Woodruff.
".@ChrisRuddyNMX tells me Pres Trump is "considering perhaps terminating" Robert Mueller as special counsel @NewsHour "
Judy Woodruff (@JudyWoodruff) June 12, 2017
The news comes on the eve of Attorney General Jeff Sessions testifying before the Senate Intelligence Committe on the Russia investigation. This follows a hearing featuring the testimony of fired FBI director James Comey before the same body.
Mueller who, on his appointment by Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, took independent control of the investigation into Russian involvement in the 2016 elections had a shadow cast on his impartiality when Comey, a one-time mentee of Muellers who suceeded him at the Bureau, revealed under oath that he deliberately leaked a potentially privileged memo to the press specifically to ensure the appointment of a special counsel.
The ploy worked. Rosenstein, who was handling the investigation because Sessions had already recused himself based on his involvement in the 2016 Trump presidential campaign, came under immense political pressure to appoint a special counsel. Mueller was quickly applauded as an impartial choice by voices across the political spectrum.
Since his appointment, he has made signals as to the criminal nature of his investigation, hiring Andrew Weissmann, the former head of the DOJ criminal divisions fraud section, and former Deputy Solicitor General Michael Dreeben.
A more controversial pick of Muellers was former prosecutor and WilmerHale partner Jeannie Rhee. In 2015, according to Politico, she performed work for the Clinton Foundation, defending it from FOIA requests related to Hillary Clintons private email server.

Mueller should be fired...it was a set up from git-go! That’s why Comey released his memo, to get a special counsel, he said so! Rosenstein may not be as neutral as he claims, and with last Dem appointee, it’s obviously a witch hunt to get Trump out!
Never mind my previous question. . Mueller has hired Rhee...and strangely enough, Graham objects.
“if there was a basis”
Yeah...thanks. What a covfefe.
In other words, Spicer knows what really is about to happen and doesn’t want to go on record as saying the opposite.
Ruddy, meanwhile, is not an ally. He repudiated the “fact” that he met with DT, saying he never said that (even though he did).
Interesting, this all could end up being a preemptive strike, out of fear, hoping President Trump would not fire Mueller or as a warning not to. The DC swamp and its media understands they need Mueller in there to help stop President Trump's pro-American agenda.
President Trump should give them what they fear, fire Mueller and end this nonsense.

I respect Jim Noble’s opinions. He thinks Mueller and Rosenstein have to be fired.
The down side to that is there will be a hell of an uproar if it happens.
I really don’t have an opinion as to what is best. The only thing I am adamant about is that Trump should stop talking and let his lawyers do their job until this gets resolved.
Ari Fleischer is right. Trump is not vindicated until Mueller vindicates him. Until then, STOP TALKING. Perjury traps await . That is what they are looking for as the investigation continues.....
Maybe Ruddy was just supposed to just float the idea out there - not attribute it to the President.
IMO, you are mixing a lot of things up. Can you provide links.
For example, Ruddy did NOT say that he met with trump in this interview
http://www.cnn.com/2017/06/12/politics/ruddy-robert-mueller-white-house/index.html
It has been confirmed that he was at the WH but Ruddy did not say he met with Trump
He says here he thinks it is clear based on what the lawyer said
http://www.cnn.com/2017/06/13/politics/chris-ruddy-bob-mueller-trump/index.html
I don’t see Ruddy backtracking anything he said. I don’t know why you are claiming it to be the case. Do you have links?
Maybe he is backtracking and I have not seen the story. So I would like to see the link
There is a chance you are right.
He didn’t say Trump said it.
He said “I think”
He referenced Trump’s lawyer.
He didn’t claim to have met with Trump.
He may have been used as a trial balloon.
Lets look at the timeline:
April 25- Rosenstein confirmed
May 9 - Rosensteins memo to Trump on why Comey should be fired is written
May 9 - Comey fired
May 16 -Comey memo leaked ( which prompted the appointment of a special council )
May 17 - Special Council appointed
Now according to 28 CFR 600.3 which states that "(b) The Attorney General shall consult with the Assistant Attorney General for Administration to ensure an appropriate method of appointment, and to ensure that a Special Counsel undergoes an appropriate background investigation and a detailed review of ethics and conflicts of interest issues.
So we are to believe that the selection of a prosecutor,a background investigation, and a detailed review of ethics and conflicts of interest was all done in one day and that they found no conflict of interest between Comey and Mueller when Comey is definitely a witness ( and now a potential target ) ?Now you know this must have been decided weeks prior, since they already had Mueller chosen and ready to go. Now besides Comey being close friends with Mueller, we have Rosenstein who from 1990 to 1993, prosecuted public corruption cases as a trial attorney with the Public Integrity Section of the Criminal Division, then led by Assistant Attorney General Mueller. This sounds like a setup to get Mueller in place. On another note, we have Holder appointing Rosenstein to prosecute General James Cartwright, a former Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, for leaking to reporters. Will Rosenstein now go after Comey for doing the same thing ? If not, it will be telling.
The down side to that is there will be a hell of an uproar if it happens.
I really dont have an opinion as to what is best.
I understand where you are coming from but no matter what President Trump does, the left will manufacture some kind of uproar. This is all manufactured so that it derails President Trump and the American people's agenda.
If President Trump does fire these people, he needs to go over the DC swamp and media's head by holding an evening TV address to the American people to explain the facts, explain all this is about derailing what is best for America and Americans, and put this disruptive nonsense to bed once and for all.
President Reagan went directly to the American people and so should President Trump when it comes to all this fake obstruction.
CGato
You have a very valid point
At this juncture, it is all going to be an uproar.
Frankly, he should do what is in his best interests as per his outside counsel... if they can figure that out..and let the fur fly if need be...
It never is a conflict of interest when it is liberals doing it, it is business as usual according to Napolitano
And Mueller will be fired because of that.
