Rick Perry: 'First-ever' natural gas exports [to northern Europe] offer hedge against Russia

The Trump administration on Friday touted the delivery of the first-ever shipments of U.S. natural gas to northern Europe as a move that will help lessen the demand for Russian energy supplies.

Energy Secretary Rick Perry said shipments of U.S. liquefied natural gas, or LNG, arrived in the Netherlands and Poland on Thursday.

"U.S. LNG has begun arriving in Europe with some frequency, providing a diverse source of supply and ensuring energy security for Europe," Perry said. "Europe has been looking to the United States as a key potential source for energy diversification to decrease Russia's leverage as the region's dominant gas supplier."

It was the now anti-Russian Left that opposed fracking, off shore drilling, and natural gas exports, tools that will lessen Russian and Iranian leverage over Europe. Common sense and not leftist foolishness is evident in this decision.

True, but it goes back much further than that, and has its roots in Soviet Union era nuclear weapons development. The USSR clandestinely funded the "anti-nuclear movement" opposing both the development of weaponry and peaceful nuclear energy by the USA. That "zeitgeist" survived the disintegration of the USSR and lives on today as the "green movement".

Everyone likes a bargain. Compared to Russian gas, our gas is a bargain. Europeans are tired of Russia shutting down deliveries to Ukrainian pipelines that feed Europe. Especially in winter.

It’s a twofer. The Russians lose export income. We get oil patch jobs. Long term the Russians have less money for adventuring abroad.

I think what she said was that you couldn’t negotiate unique trade pacts with different countries individually. But selling gas to a specific firm within a specific country is certainly possible.

Can we just tune out John McCain, Lindsay Graham, and Rick Perry already?
Let the uniparty’s greatest quislings fade away.

Except..... if a vindictive EU bureaucrat in Brussels creates a regulation making the sale unprofitable.

GA 10389 2.2 Imported natural gas arriving by ocean vessel must exceed a density of 0.45 kg/liter or pay a penalty

The Russians don't want a Middle East natural gas pipeline, either. My guess is that a stabilized Assad regime will never allow a gas pipeline.

US LNG exports to Europe is the proper price for the Russians to pay for the the Ukraine, Georgia, and their other activities. Taking money out of the pockets of the Oligarchs that run Russia is the best way to influence them.

In a typical 3D chess move, Trump openly screws over the Russian’s global economic strategy, thus making mince meat of the left’s nonsensical theory that Putin helped elect Trump.

Trump is (and always was) Russia’s worst nightmare...

Since I stated that the Uniparty wedged him into a position in DC, it is pretty obvious that I am.

This is why there is never an end to the Arlen Specters, the Orrin Hatches, The John McCains, the Lindsay Grahams. There is always another clone being prepared.

Fortunately for us, Reagan accelerated American military development and forced the Soviets into an arms race they could not sustain, leading to the collapse of the USSR and the Warsaw Pact. As you point out, the Soviets helped fund the anti-nuclear movement. Soros and other foundation money have supplanted the funds in our time.

Trump's task in fighting the domestic Left and Muslim terrorism is several orders of magnitude greater than what Reagan faced. Instead of four years of Carter and the aftermath of Watergate. Trump is fighting 28 years of uniparty misrule under the Bushes, Clinton, and Obama.

I can't disagree with your analysis. Right on target, IMO.
