Germany grants asylum to Turkish officers (from Erdogan's Purge)

Germany has approved a number of asylum requests lodged by high ranking Turkish military officers alleged by Turkey to have taken part in the failed coup attempt of 15 July 2017, reports the Turkish daily Evrensel.

414 Turkish citizens holding diplomatic passports have applied for political asylum in Germany along with their families between July 2016 and May 2017. In addition to military officers, asylum seekers include judges, prosecutors and other high-level bureaucrats.

A report published in the German daily Suddeutscher Zeitung states that most of the asylum requests by military officers have been approved after the result of the 16 April 2017 referendum on constitutional reforms granting sweeping powers to President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. However, the German Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF) denied that the referendum outcome have affected their decision to grant asylum to the Turkish nationals, according to the report.

Most of the military officers whose asylum requests were approved were stationed in NATO bases in Germany or other European countries as well as in Africa.

The German Federal Ministry of Interior has confirmed that the asylum requests were approved.

The approvals could pave the way for other European countries to follow Germany’s example, analysts say. Belgian press has already reported that many Turkish officers stationed in the NATO headquarters in Brussels have applied for political asylum in Belgium.

Under emergency powers after the (fau) Coup in Turkey last year, some of their officers faced the death penalty. Turkey had eliminated the death penalty from it's laws in order to gain EU membership.

Now after the Referendum (which all know he stole) the death penalty is not just temporary.

Many Turkish NATO officers were caught up in this.

Erdogan the Islamist has worn on patience of Europe and NATO allies.

Turkey has ZERO credibility.

What you are seeing in Turkey today is much like the aftermath of the Kristallnacht in Germany, if on a more modest scale. Many of the more sensible people are being driven from their homes and positions, under threat of personal violence and persecution.

If you should wish to observe the emergence of a new fascist state, Recep Tayyip Erdogan provides a near-perfect example of how it is done. Only THIS fascist state relies on a supernatural being to give the movement legitimacy. You defy the State, you defy Allah.

Yes. Erdogan the Islamist will bring great suffering to Turkish citizens (especially the Kurds other minorities) and to all those touching “this Turkey”.

This is NOT compatible with NATO Membership. PERIOD!

Nothing. Nothing makes Erdogan happy. He is an Islamist. He is filled with hatred of all except himself.

Germany grants asylum to Turkish officers (from Erdogan's Purge)

No point in sending 'em back to Erdogan.

These are also the most secular, Westernized Turks ... the few Muslims we WANT immigrating to the West.

Turkey is an example of how demographics creates destiny. After Ataturk’s victory, people were attracted to the cities and secularism for prosperity; thus they became a majority. But the Islamic fundamentalists retained cultural enclaves and higher reproductive rate, leading to them winning via sheer numbers a few generations later.

Actually, for a while, there has not been much policy difference between the Islamist and the Kemalists.

Islamist are openly against pluralism. Kemalists are privately against pluralism, but project secularism but don’t practice it.

They both have been practicing cultural genocide from the time of WWI. Giving lipservice to secularism.

One is as bad as the other.

If you added /sarcasm

It would have been more correct.

Statements and reality are not the same.
