80 is the new 40 -- or at least the new 60.

Octogenarians are sprightlier now than they were in the past.

“He talked about it on Howard Stern.”

Ohhh, that’s why I didn’t hear him speak about it, I stopped listening to Howard Stern many years ago when he was farting on air. Pretty mild compared to some of the other stuff he’s done but that’s the one that did it for me.

The mother of the blonde in ABBA did the same thing, from the sixth floor apartment she shared with her husband. She was 71.

She (Jean Stein) was also the daughter of Jules Stein, one of the wealthiest and most influential corporate music CEOs ever, (MCA) , when the field wasn’t as crowded and ironically monolithic as it has become. They were VERY wealthy, and that is the atmosphere young make-believe socialist Katrina grew up in. Fact is, The Nation magazine has fatuously been considered a staunchly “Leftist” rag, but they , like the brief shining Ms. Magazine of the 70s (Gloria Steinem) are political opportunists and gatekeepers of the Establishment, whether it calls itself Left, Right, or Centrist. The Nation has been around forever, like The Atlantic, and has ALWAYS been tied to the Official Version of every big and controversial story, from the Assassinations on the 1960s, on through 9-11.

"47% of old people jump to their deaths every year."

Surely, you gest.

I think you're missing a decimal somewhere.

It's perfectly accurate. You just need to add the MSM trademark words "up to".

So, we only have a 50 hour supply of old people at most?

BTW, is the guy from The Clinton Foundation still AWOL?

I thought I read recently that he turned up in Ireland, of all places, working at a university.

Listened just this morning, apparently Erin Moran told her brother that Scott Baio has a small penis.

Big controversy regarding her cause of death.

and the cheating in several elections, the biggest of which was Illinois in 1960.

Yeah, well, he didn't get a chance to cheat in '64, and he might have needed to cheat. He wasn't all that popular at the time, hence the trip to Dallas to shore up his popularity in the South.

Oh, and along with the "late-reporting" in IL in '60, the same thing happened in WV too.

I enjoyed her book about Edie Sedgwick

I think that was also George Plimpton's book. If it's the one I'm thinking of, I enjoyed it too, even though Edie Sedgwick herself didn't seem so interesting.

I have never been able to figure out why that family is held in such high regard

They are media creations. They came of age in the 60s, when the mass media were just starting to realize the power they had to create and perpetuate myths. Look at the Beatles, the civil rights movement, the whole anti-war tempest ... They never would have become the phenomena they were without media hyperbole surrounding them.

"Camelot" was just another myth to them. And it's one that mysteriously endures to this day, albeit somewhat tarnished by reality.

And the media tried to do the same thing with obama. And Hillary. And are trying to do it with [shudder] Chelsea, of all people ...
