Eric Trump: Ivanka Convinced President Trump to Strike Syria

President Donald Trump's 33-year-old son Eric told Britain's The Daily Telegraph that his sister Ivanka, rather than her husband Jared Kushner, convinced the U.S. head of state to launch 59 Tomahawk missiles in retaliation for a sarin gas attack last week.

"Ivanka is a mother of three kids and she has influence. I'm sure she said 'listen, this is horrible stuff.' My father will act in times like that," Eric Trump told The Telegraph in an interview at the Trump Turnberry golf resort in Ayrshire, Scotland.

"He also confirmed that President Trump's decision to bomb a Syrian airbase ... was influenced by the reaction of his sister Ivanka, who said she was 'heartbroken and outraged' by the atrocity," the British paper reported.

Yes, but her advice pertained to foreign affairs but it wasn’t related to a military strike, with potential Russian ramifications. Big difference.

Unfortunately so. This we don’t need. The results would be horrific.

If you ask the Never Trumpers who’ve come out of the woodwork, the main reason they’re upset about the Kushners is Jared’s flak jacket and Ray Bans. It’s all they talk about. Well, a few other bizarre conspiracy theories, but it’s that flak jacket.

Kid yourself all you care to, but this emotional reaction by who knows how many close to the president definitely played a significant part in the decision

How in hell would you know? Were you there?

You're just looking for reasons to claim Trump is selling conservative out.

I am not defending Assad or Russia, I do not give a damn about either. I just want Trump to do what he said he would do on the campaign trail. If I wanted the USA to go after Assad or Russia I would have voted for Hillary not Trump.

They're an asset to him as family and as supporters, but they are not an asset to him in policymaking and decision making

People like you whined when Ivanka met with Al Gore. But, that had zero impact on Trump's position on environmental policy or climate change.

Trump wants to get advice from his daughter in his inner circle is fine with me, but Trump is running this show. He lets all have their say and is a good listener. He shows us time and time again he doesn’t take leftist advice. Likely Trump listens to uses them as doing the opposite. A weather vane doing 180 degrees the other way. I highly doubt Ivanka advice if any here was the determining factor whether to bomb the perpetrator. US intelligence say Assad and his Air Force used chemical weapons. US foreign policy against the proliferation and use of chemical weapons is decades long.

At this point I am thinking that Don Jr., Tiffany and Barron would be better staffers in the WH than Jared, Ivanka or Eric.

But really, what business do any of them have being there?

You know, some of these folks are feeding off each other, and they have convinced themselves of things that are just nonsense.

I don’t believe it. But MSM can spin this against Trump. They need to deny it.

You may be right, but we don’t really know for sure. We do know she has his ear and she opined to him on the matter. It is also quite obvious that Trump adores and trusts his daughter. But we also know she has no experience in foreign policy or military operations. Those known facts concern me given the potential, serious ramifications inherent in this decision.

I believe we should always scrutinize and question what our leaders are doing. Its a healthy thing in a democracy.

Lol, I didn't even know she met with Algore. I thought Trump himself did, but I paid no attention to the meeting, whoever met with him.

But you need to also direct you opinions to Laura Ingraham and Pat Buchanan because they've both had a similar reactions to several of the commenters here, as well as several other solid Trump supporters of long standing.

Here they buy into the idea Ivanka ordered the attack on Syria.

Erik probably meant this innocently, but he really shouldn’t saddle his sister with something like this. There’s no way his dad would attack another nation based solely on his daughters desire.

This isn’t Harod. This is Donald Trump.

This is blathering nonsense.

Well said.

And remember, we’re talking about tossing out some obsolete weaponry and dumping it on the heads of some filthy muslims. I know, nearly all the muslims in that horrid country are filthy inhuman savages. But so what? So we didn’t dump on all filthy inhuman savages. Big deal. We hit some of them.

As for this being Ivanka’s idea... what a load of horse manure. As if Trump — the man who beat EVERY expectation in 2015 and 2016 (remember President Jeb? remember President Hillary?) can’t think for himself.

And BTW, whatever happened to the Russians Hacked The Election story?

I know, some hard-core liberal dim-wits are trying to keep it alive by saying The Russians were in on the cruise-missile strike (I guess they hacked Ivanka). But even they know the Russian Hacking Story is now as dead as Tawana Brawley’s claims of being raped.

And the fact is, it’s GREAT that Ivanka gets the “blame” for this. It keeps the stupid, stupid, stupid media completely in the dark. Where they always are when it comes to Trump.

I agree. They have good background in business but not in running a country. I have never been a fan of nepotism.

No doubt if Ivanka hadn’t been heartbroken, this attack might never have occurred...
