The Republican National Committee, together with President Donald Trumps re-election campaign, raised more than $53 million in the first quarter of 2017, according to party and campaign officials, fueled by the same class of online donors who flocked to Mr. Trump last year.
Of that, the RNC raised $41.3 million in the first three months of the yearmore than double what its Democratic counterpart raised in the quarter after former President Barack Obama was elected in 2008while Mr. Trumps campaign raised $3.3 million and a joint committee between the two raised more than $9 million.
Frequent fundraising emails bearing Mr. Trumps name brought in about 250,000 new online donors to the RNC, campaign and their joint committees, according to an RNC official. That marks a 398% increase over the number of new donors the RNC won in 2016an election year.
The comparison with past GOP fundraising hauls in the years following an election is stark. In the first quarter of 2001, when former President George W. Bush, a Republican, had been elected to his first term, the party raised $17.2 million.
The RNC in the first quarter of 2017 also raised more than double what its Democratic counterpart raised in the quarter after Mr. Obama was elected in 2008. And Mr. Trumps campaign haul nearly triples Mr. Obamas campaign fundraising that quarter.

I’ve been done with the RNC for over a decade, but there’s no doubt about President Trump’s influence. POTUS is LOVED and APPRECIATED!
The RNC has seen 3.4 million donors respond to petitions and surveys it regularly sends out, including one that sought donors opinions on the media.
One of the questions on that survey: On which issues does the mainstream media do the worst job of representing Republicans? (Select as many that apply.) Among the response options: immigration, pro-life values and individual liberty.
But i thought his poll numbers suck and the impeachment hearings are starting soon according to fake news poster boy Juan Williams?
Ah, the politicians’ beloved money spigot!
So nice to have Trump’s hand on it...
I ask the question seriously, not snarkily: Do you think anyone reads or tabulates those fund-raising surveys?
I think they open the envelopes, take out the checks, and throw everything else away.
This country is going down in flames so fast, I will be surprised if there is a USA in 2020. No fault of Trumps. I believe he wants to save the country, but it is beyond saving. Liberaliism dominates.
You’ve lived too long in California.
Exactly. This tells the real story of the energized base etc.
