http://religionnews.com/2017/03/22/neil-gorsuchs-own-faith-is-a-poor-predictor-of-how-he-would-judge-religious-issues/

This link is to all of you on this thread, whether your name is listed or not.

Do some research. His opinions on religious liberty issues are STERLING. There is no argument about it, period.

It’s simple to see what happened to him as far as “church” goes. He attended Oxford among his other academic institutions. While in England at Oxford he became an Anglican instead of the Catholic he was raised. How come?

His wife was born and raised in England and is literally “Church of England” from birth.

I wouldn’t be a member of that group, but I understand why someone raised in England as that, from birth, would.

This is a matter between him and his wife. I would like to see them become members of a version that doesn’t hew the liberal line, but I know people who hew to a liberal church because of its tradition in their families and early lives, who continue in it, but don’t espouse all of its liberal views.

I’m not like that, myself, but some people are.

I do not blame Judge Gorsuch for his choice to be with his wife in a church setting.

I do not believe this informs his views nor will inform his actions on the Supreme Court.

I do believe the evidence is overwhelming that he has called them as he sees them.

The panic-stricken overreach in some of these posts saddens me.

Thanks to those of you who did not go there.

Again from the article:

“A Google search shows there’s an Anglican church in Boulder that the Gorsuch family could be attending if they so desired,” she continued. “So, the fact that the judge and his family has remained at St. John’s says something.”

Did you make the same argument when Barack Obama was under fire for attending Rev. Wright's "kill whitey" church for years?

Obama supporters made the case that Senator Obama's church membership was a personal matter between him and his wife, and then Senator Obama pointed out that he knows plenty of people who hew to a church because of its tradition in their families and early lives, who continue in it, but don’t espouse all the views that their pastor holds. Obama supporters repeatedly said that its not right to blame Barack Obama for his choice to be with his wife in a church setting, or for continuing to remain a member of the church where his children were baptized, and that his pastor's controversial comments about white America do not inform his views nor will inform his actions as President of the United States.

If you were not willing to defend Obama for doing the same thing as Gorsuch (choosing to keep attending his wife's Marxist church for years no matter how screwy their pastor is), why the double standard? Is it okay now because the person doing it this time has an "R" next to their name?

Not even when the church endorses the taking of innocent life? I consider the ongoing legality of abortion to be worse than slavery. You?
Going back in time, would you feel the same way about a man who attended a church that endorsed slavery (while legal) simply because it was the church his wife attended?

If Gorsuch had any serious convictions concerning the issue, he shouldn't have married his wife. Obviously he doesn't.

The silliness of my fellow Christians at times is just jaw dropping. I grew up in my faith in the religious right. I spent time at L’Abri in the midst of the Christian surge into politics (over abortion, mostly). I have seen it morph into something which is shallow, uncritical, focused on peccadilloes, unaware, ghettoized, reactionary and frankly more harm than good at times.

Gorsuch may turn out to be a disappointment. There is NO hint of such in his rulings though. Nor is like Roberts, who was a “stealth” candidate, who we were asked to support because of the impeccable trustworthiness of GW Bush. He may bend left.

I prefer to go with a man’s declared principles, rather than try to read chicken entrails about his “spiritual” condition from the apostate church he attends.

So you believe his wife controls where they attend church?

“His wife was born and raised in England and is literally “Church of England” from birth.”

He acts like a metrosexual girly man. No other reason he would have so many close sodomite friends who he praises on their “marriage” or leave Catholicism for the most liberal protestant faith in the country. His wife told him to. She wears the pants.
