An Italian archbishop close to Pope Benedict XVI has claimed that the It is “no coincidence” that some Catholic groups “have asked President Trump to open a commission of inquiry to investigate whether the administration of Barack Obama exerted pressure on Benedict,” said Archbishop Luigi Negri in an interview Monday, citing other revelations by Wikileaks regarding efforts by the Democratic Party to sway the direction of the Catholic Church in the United States.

“It remains shrouded in mystery for now,” he said to news outlet Rimini 2.0, “but I am sure that those responsible will be found out.”

The archbishop was making reference to a letter written by a group of American Catholics to President Trump last January requesting that the administration conduct an investigation into a possible Soros-Obama-Clinton conspiracy behind the resignation of Pope Benedict.Obama administration may have been complicit in the “tremendous pressures” that led the former pope to resign in 2013.

If there is any truth to that, the former Pope was a bigger wimp than I thought

I knew this by instinct from the get go.
I loved Pope Benedict, still do.

This current Loozah, an interloper, an evil presence, as is Zero.

I walked away.

Love my Religion but I sincerely believe the Cabal running the Vatican now are pure evil.

Probably isn’t a doubt about that. It was likely Soros through Obama.

I wouldn’t doubt that at all. I’ll bet Soros’ fingerprints are all over this too.

Believable, but unproven. Current pope worked for the Cuba deal and hates Trump.

It certainly seems odd that obamaic values find so much traction in this pope.

I pray for the Catholic faithful.

There was a story posted last year pointing out that the Vatican Bank had been suspended from the SWIFT (Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication) system in early 2013 and was immediately reinstated upon Benedict's resignation. Let's fact it, that had the markings of a quid pro quo.

Consider this story in the Daily Kos (January 27, 2013, just 2 weeks before the resignation was announced):
