A great question to pose to global warming believers after debunking the 97 % consensus myth is “Ask yourself, if they are lying about this then what other lies are global warming proponents telling you?”

Consensus among scientists is meaningless.

Science overturns consensus. That’s its function.

Science is not a democracy or popularity contest where the idea with the most followers wins. In fact, History is full of examples where the “general consensus” was wrong, and shattered by lone rebels who didn’t agree.

In the late 1800s, the “general consensus” was that heavier-than-air craft could never fly, and was said to be a “physical impossibility” by the world’s greatest scientist, Lord Kelvin. Two bicycle-makers from Ohio made the world’s scientists look like fools.

Lots of other examples where dissenters broke the existing “consensus” and showed the truth. Science needs to always be questioned, if the idea is solid, it will withstand any rigid questioning.

Similarly, concepts that NEED to be protected from rigid questioning are probably suspect.

The 97% claim is a perfect example of the left repeating a lie until it is commonly accepted. The study and figure was debunked the same day it was released and proven to have no basis by virtually everyone who has examined it. Yet the left continues to stick with it.

Indeed. Like I said, the Heliocentric view is also inadequate. :-)

I look at these studies and laugh. Want to change the result? Trump could say wine 97% of climate scientists believe this and there a a consensus, then there is no longer a need to fund efforts. Money can be used to find the financial part of fixing this, where there is no government intervention.

Once the left starts complaining about more science is needed, the game is over.

Here at the New Jersey shore we were up to 70 a few days back, and hit 12 this morning. It’s now up to a lovely, sunny 31 and is supposed to be in the 60s by Wednesday. The phenomenon is called “weather”.

[[I sincerely doubt that figure.]]

And well you should- it is not 97% of all scientists- it was only 97% of a small group of scientists questioned, many of whom didn’t answer- and their non answers were thrown out in order to come up with their ridiculous 97% figure-

Nothing about ‘man-caused climate change’ is genuine or truthful- NASA was just caught making up numbers and throwing out evidence to support their idiotic claims

— consensus is not proof.

But agreeing with the required consensus keeps the grant money coming, so...

Remove that incentive and truth will out.

The original 97% (77 of 79 respondents which 97% is really 76.6)supposedly came from:

The “97 percent” statistic first appeared prominently in a 2009 study by University of Illinois master’s student Kendall Zimmerman and her adviser, Peter Doran.

Based on a two-question online survey, Zimmerman and Doran concluded that “the debate on the authenticity of global warming and the role played by human activity is largely nonexistent among those who understand the nuances and scientific bases of long-term climate processes” — even though only 5 percent of respondents, or about 160 scientists, were climate scientists.

In fact, the “97 percent” statistic was drawn from an even smaller subset: the 79 respondents who were both self-reported climate scientists and had “published more than 50% of their recent peer-reviewed papers on the subject of climate change.”

These 77 scientists agreed that global temperatures had generally risen since 1800, and that human activity is a “significant contributing factor.”

I attended a conference on global warming in the early 90’s at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. This was not a political conference, but there were a lot of nerds there like me. None of the scientists at this conference found any evidence of man-made global warming. The 97% number is just pure bs.
