Ollie, the female bobcat that escaped from the Smithsonian National Zoo yesterday, is presumed to be in the neighborhoods of Woodley Park or Cleveland Park near the zoo according to zoo officials.

Burp...
The first sign that a bobcat was prowling around my brother’s (semi-rural) neighborhood was that several small dogs went missing. Get ready for the sob stories in the news when this bobcat starts eating DC reporters’ pets.
She’s probably looking for a place with granite countertops.
I did eat Bobcat once. Tastes a little like Mountain Lion.
Around 2011, there were several crediable reports in northwest DC (near a city park) of a mountain lion on the loose. No pictures....just people seeing it and some tracks. Nothing ever came out of this though.

That mountain lion was likely a young cat looking for a territory and a mate. While there are ‘crats’ beyond number in the DC area, a ‘crat is not the same as a cat. Based on the way they have been screwing the rest of America, the cat arguably could have been screwed by one of the DC ‘crats.
Or, perhaps the reason it left is - it was. There are some things even a desperate cougar won’t tolerate twice.
;)
geezzz all it would take ...is some dude like me with a few American Ladner Yellow Blackmouth Curs to run it down and tree it...easy.. happens all the time...i’ll even leave my gun at home
Since they typically range up to seven miles every night while hunting it could be anywhere in Rock Creek park or it's Md or Va extensions by now. Plenty of geese, deer and small animals around to keep it fat and happy.
Bobcat is looking for a mate.
Just follow the adverts on the telephone poles for lost cats.
They are not lost. They are dinner.

Yes. There are plenty of squirrels, rabbits and foo-foo dogs and cats to keep it fed. And DC proper has enough rats to feed a small nation.
I suspect it will wander the interconnected greenways looking for a mate and never voluntarily return, especially since it had a “bad reputation” among its zoo handlers.
I’m more interested in the red lesser panda that escaped from the Norfolk zoo about a week ago.
I think recent events are proving this out.
It probably heard Trump talking about grabbing ... uh ... kitty ... and wandered on down to the White House. That would be kind of cool ... the President having a pet bobcat!
Ollie found!!! Still on zoo property.

Damn, so much for my cat recipe.
