U.S. supermarket operator Kroger Co said on Monday it would fill 10,000 permanent positions in its supermarket divisions.

Kroger, which had about 431,000 full- and part-time employees as of Jan. 30, 2016, also said its total active workforce grew by more than 12,000 in 2016.

The world's No. 1 retailer Wal-Mart Stores Inc said last week it would create about 10,000 jobs in the United States this year, as President Donald Trump puts pressure on companies to hire more U.S. workers.

My first full time job was at the Madison, Wisconsin Divisional Office of Kroger —over 59 years ago. It was a good job & paid well for the time. I grossed $52.00 for a 40 hour week!!! But I learned alot....and looking back, it was a great job.

My best local (24.5 miles one way) grocery is Smith’s & they are affiliated with Kroger. Good products-—and I won’t buy meat anywhere else. Their p0orl shoulder butt roast goes into the crockpot frozen solid & comes out succulent. One inch of water-—cover roast with dry onions & garlic salt, put on lid & set to LOW. Check to see if water has gotten too low. Makes great dinner & a weeks worth of pork roast sandwiches.

Your post made me sooooooo hungry. I had some frozen homemade soup I brought to school for lunch, but when I took the foil off the container had cracked in half.

Just curious.....why dried onions over fresh? I plan to make this as soon as I buy a new crock pot!

Unions wrecked Dillons, a subsidiary of Kroger, in this area. Long ago.

I’ve got the ideal situation where I live in Metro DFW. Kroger and Aldi are across the street from each other.

Maybe that would effect Walmart more than Kroger.
