Decades ago people made it a point to watch the awards shows, because they thought it mattered who won what. You’d hear people discussing it the next day at work as if it mattered.
Not any more. No one cares as far as I can tell. I haven’t watched an award show in decades. I couldn’t tell you who won what, or who was in the running. Of course, I hardly ever see a movie anymore.
Long ago studios had to pay maybe 20% of every dollar to drag people to see the movie at the theater.
Now we have computers, devices, Netflix, Hulu...
Studios now have to pay 33% for marketing.
Thus the huge new emphasis on movie franchises (Avengers, Iron Man, as mentioned in the article), whose marketing has already secured a following; repeat customers.
It’s to minimize risk and control marketing costs.
Do golden globalists take golden showers???

“In the presence of the real power brokers — studio and network chiefs, producers and directors — they grovel like peasants.” Sad but true. Above the line are producers. Everyone else below the line is dependent and work job to job and have agents pushing actors to become immoral. Producers are wealthy people around the world who buy movies and tv shows as an investment. Awards shows are fun and glamorous. However, taking liberal stances at award shoes is repulsive and damages the movie/tv products. In 1973 Marlon Brando had an Indian woman receive his award and the audience felt confused. Stupid Brando. He bit the hand that feeds.
