North Carolina Man Pleads Guilty to Hacking Senior U.S. Government Officials
FBI ^ | January 6, 2017

ALEXANDRIA, Va. – Justin G. Liverman, 24, of Morehead City, North Carolina, pleaded guilty today for his role in a harassment scheme that targeted senior U.S. government officials. Liverman’s plea admits guilt to a conspiracy to commit unauthorized computer intrusions, identity theft, and telephone harassment.

According to the statement of facts filed with the plea agreement, beginning in November 2015, Liverman conspired to attempt to intimidate and harass U.S. officials and their families by gaining unauthorized access to victims’ online accounts, among other things. For example, Liverman publicly posted online documents and personal information unlawfully obtained from a victim’s personal account; sent threatening text messages to the same victim’s cellphone; and paid an unlawful “phonebombing” service to call the victim repeatedly with a threatening message. In November 2015, the conspiracy used that victim's government credentials to gain unlawful access to a confidential federal law enforcement database, where Liverman obtained information relating to dozens of law enforcement officers and uploaded this information to a public website.

Liverman faces a maximum penalty of five years in prison when sentenced on May 12. The maximum statutory sentence is prescribed by Congress and is provided here for informational purposes, as the sentencing of the defendant will be determined by the court based on the advisory Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors. Co-defendant Andrew Otto Boggs, also from North Carolina, is expected to enter a plea of guilty for his role in the conspiracy on January 10. . .

Let citizens try to hack into secret places in Government. Give them a good reward for revealing how they got in should they succeed. This way our weaknesses will be discovered and can be shored up.

They were members of a group called “Crackas with Attitude” and one of their targets was John Brennan.

Bogg’s online name was “INCURSIO” and the other twit’s name was D3F4ULT and there are 3 British teenager involved as well.

Some of what was obtained from Brennan was then given to Wikileaks on October 21, 2015. Wikileaks did post Brennan material in that time and some concerned Iran.

Once in control of an account they used it to promote the “Free Palestine Movement” and pretended to be Snowden.

Get this - they were after 5 people... Brennan, DNI Clapper, and the FBIs Amy Hess and Mark Giuliano as well as one victim who was a corporate CEO. Wonder who the corporate CEO was?

They also released the names and emails of thousands of government employees in DHS and the FBI, and released info on S Florida cops.

Andrew Otto Boggs, 22, who allegedly used the handle Incursio, or IncursioSubter, and Justin Gray Liverman, who is suspected of using the moniker D3f4ult, were arrested on Thursday, according to a press release by the US State’s Attorney’s Office in the Eastern District of Virginia.

The affidavit [PDF] in support of the arrest warrant is a hell of a read — although possibly a very trying read for those with limited patience for txt spk and l33t h4x0r screen names. It’s also a cautionary tale of hubris winning out over operational security, somewhat ironic for a group of hackers who took obvious glee in pointing out how terrible everyone else’s security is.

The affidavit:

idiots!
