President-elect Donald Trump reacted on Friday to news that the US had allowed the United Nations to condemn Israeli settlements by foreshadowing a change in direction when he takes office.

"As to the U.N., things will be different after Jan. 20th," Trump tweeted, referring to the date he is set to be inaugurated as the 45th president.

The UN Security Council on Friday passed a resolution condemning Israeli settlements on occupied Palestinian territory as having "no legal validity." Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had both called on the US to veto it, but the US abstained, allowing the resolution to pass.

Sounds like something a leader would say.

Time to punish and marginalize the UN and restore some US sovereignty.

Cut the US contribution to the UN by 3/4 and cut their influence. Make them fire half of their utopian bureaucratic skunks.

Yup. Nothing he can do now. But as of the 20th we start putting things right.

New York, and the U.S.
Should have kicked them out at least 25 years ago.

Waiting for Jan 20th is worse that waiting for Christmas when I was a kid.

Could be worse. Prior to the 20th Amendment, Presidents were inaugurated on March 4th.

Trump is getting blamed for things and he’ll be inaugurated next year. People seem to think he’s already president.

Maybe the UN can put the squeeze on old Kofi Annan who pocketed millions off the oil-for-food program in Iraq to make up for the shortfall of cash when President Trump cuts a big chunk out of their budget.

UN promotes tyranny. Gives petty tyrants a world stage. Membership should be limited to democracies or abolished.

The UN should be abolished and its NYC headquarters be turned into housing for the homeless: get them off the street, on their feet and working.

I’ve seen mainly finger pointing in media I am allowed to access, but my question is what can WE do about it? How can we help Trump reverse this? Do we have to take down the entire U.N. stick by stick, or are there shorter measures?

Meanwhile, absolutely no one on earth is heralding Obama as doing something noble (Nobel?) or heroic. Rather, he skulks away in the night with his tail between his scrawny legs (as Arnold use to call those pathetic little twigs).

Pure petulant POS = his legacy.

The best way to get back at Obama and the UN would be to put the US embassy smack in the middle of the settlements. Maybe make low interest loans to settlers for housing.

Exactly, joshua. Exactly. Something I’ve thought for a long time. And if the UN can’t be changed from an organization dominated by Islamists and dictator-run countries into an organization exclusively for democracies (and republics), then we should start one that is so restricted — and stop supporting the UN with our dollars.

When the British are out of the EU and their PM is Farage, and the French are out of the EU and their president is Le Pen, and Trump is in his second term and the UN is history, then it would be logical for the US / UK / France / Russia to form an alliance.

We could call it the Federation...
