[full title]:The Saddam interrogation: Ten years after the tyrant's execution, the CIA agent who grilled him reveals the shattering truth... that everything the US thought it knew was WRONG
CIA analyst John Nixon grilled the ruthless dictator of Iraq, Saddam Hussein
In the course of interrogations, Saddam 'turned our assumptions upside down'
In his 2010 memoir, Bush wrote: I decided I would not criticise the hardworking patriots of the CIA for the faulty intelligence on Iraq. But that is exactly what he did. He blamed the agency for everything that went wrong and called its analysis guesswork while hearing only what he wanted to hear.
I do not wish to imply that Saddam was innocent. He was a ruthless dictator who plunged his region into chaos and bloodshed. But in hindsight, the thought of having an ageing and disengaged Saddam in power seems almost comforting in comparison with the wasted effort of our brave men and women in uniform and the rise of Islamic State, not to mention the £2.5 trillion spent to build a new Iraq.

If it’s the same people claiming the Russian nonsense then I believe it.
The CIA is America’s version of the ministry of propaganda.
President Bush’ biggest mistake was not to fight back against the intense media onslaught against him.
The establishment media worked against him, almost non-stop, for his two terms.
His actual war actions were decent.
His failure was to fight the establishment media.
Sadaam Hussein was a ruthless bastard.
But was the USA better off with him in power?
Was the entire mid-east more stable?
Was the USA better off before President G.H.W. Bush gave the nod for Hussein to invade Kuwait?
Isn’t that the event that led to the destabilization of the entire mid-east?
Was the USA better off before President George “Dubya” Bush embarked on his regime change agenda after 9/11?
Was the USA better off before Obama, Hillary and Kerry destroyed the remaining power balance in the mid-east?
Before they eliminated the remaining ruling strong-men and attempted to replace them with militant muslim terror regimes?
Before they helped Iran rise to become the dominant power in the area?
How many people on both sides have died because of these foreign policy failures?
How many will still die no matter what the USA does going forward?
In Iraq, Iran, Turkey, Libya, Egypt (and trying in Syria) we replace secular governments with religious governments.
Is there a lesson here?
“Ehh... I donot buy this guys story that makes Hussein a misunderstood saint and W a asshole””
no kidding. assuming ANYTHING in this article at all even approaches what actually happened, it’s obvious that Sadaam is lying through his teeth about everything he said. I don’t buy ANYTHING in this article. Not one thing.
In the same vein, recall that our ol' buddy, Joe Wilson, spent the months immmediately prior to the Iraq invasion lecturing on college campuses against an invasion because Saddam had WMD...and would use them.
Saddam did what he could to convince everyone he had WMDs. No surprise appropriate action was taken. Had he stuck with merely being a brutal dictator, he’d have been left alone as preferable to the alternatives.
The lesson is that we should use thermonuclear bombs when ever dealing with Islam.
And he should have known, since France had broken the boycott against Iraq and had started to sell dual use technologies to Saddam (again!)
Hard to take the story seriously when this guy is that unflattering to the president yet still doesn’t relate what Saddam said about all those truck convoys that went into Syria. Maybe he just wasn’t asked about it or something...
freegards
Isn’t it the CIA that is claiming that the Russians hacked the DNC and Podesta’s emails?
So the CIA is not infallible and maybe, just maybe, they are wrong about the Russians too?
FWIW, I believe Britain still stands by it’s intelligence about Saddam Hussein.
The lesson is that nice guys can not control a nation of savages.
Very simple.
"Saddam Celebrates September 11", Little Green Footballs, 7/21/2003 "Heres a photograph taken by members of the 3rd Infantry Division near the Baghdad Airport, that you havent seen published by our quagmire-obsessed, relentlessly negative media. It doesnt prove a connection between Saddam Hussein and the September 11 atrocities, of course; but clearly, he wanted someone to think the connection existed, whether it did or not."
Exactly!
We were prepared to stay the course until our current president took office-
[[make a rational logical decision on whether we should spend our blood and treasure helping, and decide whether we should remain the worlds Policeman. ]]
Being allies to an oppressed people is not policing- theres a big difference- nor is going to war after myriad un violations policing- We knew for a fact saddam was using WMDs on his own people- and the atrocities he was committing on his own people were far and above what most regimes do- Again- there were several key issues that led the US to take him out- And morality was just one of those key issues- You will discover, if you read the investigations into wmds that even the investigators knew he had them - read the report- the final decision was a politically motivated one meant to deligitimize bush- the iraqis under order by saddam buried their weapons all over the country-
5,000 chemical warheads, shells or aviation bombs were found scattered across Iraqi soil.

BOMBSHELL: New York Times Reports WMDs WERE Found in Iraq!
http://www.thepoliticalinsider.com/bombshell-new-york-times-reports-wmds-found-iraq/
These were not old antiquated wmds- these were the real deal- soldiers suffered chemical poisonings and burnings from wmds- And these are just the ones that were found-
Further Iraq was required by un resolution 1441 to fully account for and destroy all wmds- they refused-
My fellow citizens, events in Iraq have now reached the final days of decision. For more than a decade, the United States and other nations have pursued patient and honorable efforts to disarm the Iraqi regime without war. That regime pledged to reveal and destroy all its weapons of mass destruction as a condition for ending the Persian Gulf War in 1991. Since then, the world has engaged in 12 years of diplomacy. We have passed more than a dozen resolutions in the United Nations Security Council. We have sent hundreds of weapons inspectors to oversee the disarmament of Iraq. Our good faith has not been returned.
The Iraqi regime has used diplomacy as a ploy to gain time and advantage. It has uniformly defied Security Council resolutions demanding full disarmament. Over the years, U.N. weapon inspectors have been threatened by Iraqi officials, electronically bugged, and systematically deceived. Peaceful efforts to disarm the Iraqi regime have failed again and again because we are not dealing with peaceful men.
Intelligence gathered by this and other governments leaves no doubt that the Iraq regime continues to possess and conceal some of the most lethal weapons ever devised. This regime has already used weapons of mass destruction against Iraqs neighbors and against Iraqs people.
President George Bush
The dueler report which concluded that there were no wmds was wholly unaware of the fact that there were later found 500 warheads with sarin gas at 25% concentration levels- Woopsie- such a definitive determination when all the actual facts werent known- some as high as 40%- these were not old ineffective wmds
The most interesting discovery has been a 152mm binary Sarin artillery projectilecontaining a 40 percent concentration of Sarinwhich insurgents attempted to use as an Improvised Explosive Device (IED). The existence of this binary weapon not only raises questions about the number of viable chemical weapons remaining in Iraq and raises the possibility that a larger number of binary, long-lasting chemical weapons still exist.
http://www.powerlineblog.com/archives/2015/02/iraq-had-wmds-after-all.php
The more warheads that were found, the louder the cry of old-useless from the left became- they just could not admit that they were wrong about there being no wmds so they had to keep trying to diminish how recent or effective the warheads were- but htere became so many of them, and the concentrations were so high- that their lie became obvious to all those who knew these weapons existed- the problem is that the msm buried these reports until the NYT finally came out with their report, refuting the claim that the wmds found were not important-
Everyone knows that Saddam had all the time in the world to move and hide wmds=- even moving some out of country- the left knew it- everyone knew it- there was nothing honorable about saddam at all- he stopped at nothing trying to hide incriminating evidence-
One of three important questions before us today is how much might remain undeclared and intact from before 1991; and, possibly, thereafter; the second question is what, if anything, was illegally produced or procured after 1998, when the inspectors left; and the third question is how it can be prevented that any weapons of mass destruction be produced or procured in the future.
You knew damn well saddam was saying Pay no attention to the voice behind the curtain- He was juts biding his time and waiting for the right time to rebuild what he had just destroyed- every honest person knew this
And then he and Iraq were being a general pain the rear to the rest of the world. Seventeen (17) UN resolutions, he was shooting at our fighters who were policing the no fly zone.
And we had just been attacked — remember 9-11?
Still, not enough justification for a War.
In later years, the ripple effect would have dire consequences on the Christians in Egypt and Syria too......
I didn't need this guy's story to conclude that the last part is absolutely true.
Tell it to the Kurds.
