The U.S. Postal Service said all of the mail was destroyed in a Tuesday morning truck fire.
The Wisconsin DOT said State Patrol was notified of semi fire on I-94 in St. Croix County near Hudson Tuesday morning. When officers arrived, the fire had spread to the trailer.
The U.S. Postal Service confirmed the truck was carrying USPS mail and packages. The truck was taking them from the Twin Cities distribution center to Chicago. USPS said the load consisted mainly of Priority Mail packages originating in Minnesota and western Wisconsin. It may have also contained some First-Class mail.
USPS said customers who believe they may have had packages on the truck should track their items on the USPS website. Customers can then file a claim for their loss - but not until 15 days after the date of mailing.

Russians?
Li-ion battery shipment?
Someone won’t get their Samsung Galaxy phone for Christmas...
Great pic!
FOUND! Madison’s & Milwaukee’s 50,000 missing Hillary dead-voter ballots.
“Honey...I bought you a really expensive Christmas gift, but it was on that mail truck on I94...”
Sure would be ironic to learn that the truck was hauling ballots.... /sarc
From Minnesotastan.
Well, there goes my shipment of mail order nuclear waste.
Yay. Grilled cheese...curds.
Hillary’s winning votes were probably on that truck? /s
Jill Stein’s leftover cocaine free-basing materials from the Wisc. recount parties.
Yes, we know you had a package on the truck because our tracking shows that you had a package on the truck. But in addition to destroying your package, we want to add the extra inconvenience of not even starting to make restitution for another two weeks. Happy Holidays!
“Dang” is right. Did someone order one of those exploding Samsung phones?
The public system, as I have used it, doesn’t seem to have a way of linking a shipment to “that truck.”
Again this is government work for ya. They could run a special report for the purpose and mark them as expedited claimable, but (1) this would cost them in the short run; and (2) not my yob, mon.
Betcha that any private shipper will beat this all hollow. You want a gummit subsidized system, you get gummit quality service out of it.
My employer has been having trouble with tracking numbers not working at all. This is going to make a fun Christmas.
When it absolutely positively has to be burnt to a crisp overnight...
