These ethnic DNA tests can detect European, African, Asian, Native American and Jewsish ancestry. As the science gets better, their reports are getting even more detailed.
For example, results once defined as Western European are now being broken down into subgroups such as English and Irish or French and German etc. Results only defined as African are starting to break down into specific countries.
I FIND THAT HARD TO BELIEVE. Really?
So says his old pal, Harvard Professor Henry Gates:

If anyone swipes his dna I would not be sending it to this guy.
DNA testing on another thread that demonstrates how specific it can be with ancestry.

That being said, I’d be weary of submitting his DNA if I could get my hands on it and would go through extraordinary steps to separate from that request.
He’s likely had it done through Gates under a fictitious name and it could be red-flagged as a identical match. Gates started his DNA company in 2007, or thereabouts.
But I do not know if all these DNA entities are connected at all. Stay away from Gates.
