Ain’t that the sad, sad truth?
The neighbor killed the 8 foot black snake female that had been here since the late 70s, and right after that, an old man on the other side of the ridge died and all his goats were taken away.
Pack rats, seeking a new food source, poured over the mountain, plaguing us all.
But Big Mama was not here to save us.
Nor any of her kids, who’d all been killed, too.
I have educated my neighbors. But that doesn’t stop one from getting caught in mower.
Actually built them a little shelter leaning an old metal door across a log. We had a small male who would bathe in a water feature outside porch window with two small frogs. Dad would watch them for hours. He called the frogs “appetizer” and “dessert”. The snake never bothered them.
