If President Trump appoints him, then Mr. Romney is ipso facto the best man for the job. Who is more likely to be right about an appointee: President Trump or Ms. Conway?

Everyone cannot be perfect all of the time. Now is such a time.
President Trump should heed the wise counsel from Kellyanne Conway.

Respectfully disagree - it’s Trump’s pick and he is driving the car, but I think (as usual) that Conway made the case for why Romney should not be anywhere near Trump.

His behavior during the primary and campaign towards Trump was very transparent to me. Romney tried to gain power with the #neverTrump movement and he was arguably the opposition with the most gravitas. He swung for the fences and struck out. It’s time for boos and a trip to the dugout - not a cabinet appointment.

Who is more likely to be right about the feelings of the American people: President Trump or Ms. Conway?

Sometimes, when your boss is about to do something really stupid, you have to show him the error of his ways.

Kellyann is doing the right thing.

Romney would be a disaster.

There is an opinion column at the American Thinker that addresses a scenario that says TRUMP wants the State Department OVERHAULED, which is Romney’s forte.

Romney repaired the Olympics on a shoestring and overhauled Bain Capital... I know I probably spelled that wrong, but you see where this is going.

The writer suggests that TRUMP will run foreign policy from the White House along with certain of his cabinet members.

He speaks of John Bolton as possibly too cozy with members at the State Department to really be able to make deep enough cuts and to do serious restructuring and closing down whole departments, and further says that the State Dept is full of Arabs. Yes, he says THAT. Wow.

If plausible, then TRUMP puts in the best restructuring and gutting man for that job, but does not give Romney run-amok reins to go rogue internationally, nor any opportunity to outflank TRUMP’s White House on policy, either foreign or domestic.

Writer suggests Bolton can be called in by Romney or the White House to bring his own expertise to the table.

Just sayin’.

Romney is the best man for the job and he probably should get it.

It's pretty obvious that Trump is going to use the Obama - Clinton model where one puts ones enemy into ceremonial and bureaucratic Sec of State position while running foreign policy directly from the White House via personal envoys

Trump would be giving Romney the thankless and unpopular job of draining the Swamp at State while all real diplomacy ran through the White House.
