Former Governor Romney was one of Donald Trump’s harshest critics during the election. He assisted his opponents and was essentially working to get Hillary Clinton elected.

Donald Trump met with Mitt Romney in New Jersey last week. Sources said he was interviewing for the Secretary of State position with the Trump administration.

Trump supporters HATE the idea.

Now this… Transition Team sources told Ed Henry from FOX News that Mitt Romney is preparing a public apology. Mitt Romney is reportedly very interested in the Secretary of State job.

Trump certainly defended Petraeus, during the campaign, in his smack down of ILLary and her email crimes.

I’d trust Gen Petraeus over Milt.

It’s got to be Reince. Unless this is a very good head fake (which is what I’m hoping for). KellyAnne said on fox that she would want/expect a cabinet filled with people were against Trump, “Maybe one, that would be my advice”. The next day Nikki Hayley was named U.N ambassador. She has been tweeting a lot about how loyalty is important to an SOS and been linking to a lot of stories referencing how the grassroots feels about Romney (negative). It makes it seem as though she’s trying to get Trump’s attention right? However, if you read she post another tweet specifically saying, I’m not posting these things to get Trumps attention, I talk with him and the VP daily. Her tweets read like trolling.I may be wrong but the sense I’m getting is that Romney isn’t going to be SOS and they already know he’s not in contention and she’s giving winks and nods to that affect but they want to get the positive media that comes with a potential Romney pick. Also, it feels like that are all playing off each other to confuse the media. Rudy saying he would be a great SOS wasn’t a slip of the tongue or him angling for the job, it was a part of the misdirection. The thing that keeps me unsure is that the media themselves come across as near certain that Trump is going to pick Romney; I think he’s playing them but I’m worried to be wrong on this one

Wait for his public apology...then tell him to get lost!

With the Petreus talk out there, would Trump look a bit hypocritical selecting him with a misdemeanor conviction for mishandling classified intel?? Regardless of the circumstances.
Petreus might do a fine job, I just think it would set up a barrage of attacks from the MSM that are not worth enduring.

You don’t give up the gains you already earned. He can fight the Linda’s of the world with a SOS who supports his policies just as easily as he can with Mittens. Mitt is not on Trump’s team no matter what he says. I’m glad the grassroots are speaking up. There are plenty of other options. Newt, Huck, Perry, Christie, Rudy, Petraeus (an outside pick that didn’t support Trump either but isn’t Romney and could find broad support). What about Jindal, an actual Conservative who governed like one. Sorry, I agree with Rush about winning. It’s not poor sportsmanship to act like you’ve won and not be ashamed of what got you there

Petraeus all but endorsed Hillary. He’s no better than Romney in my book.

“Why is he so anxious to go around the world spewing Trump’s ridiculous foreign policy?

Share with us what’s “ridiculous” about Trump’s foreign policy?

I really can’t believe Romney is being considered in the least. He degraded Mr. Trump continuously.

Does the nation lack good leaders to the extent that Romney is even an option?

Thank you. My sentiments are also inclusive of the other No Trumpers at the higher level of political activity who are at war with their own country. Romney is not just another political activist looking for gain with voters. He and those like him are working to change this country fundamentally, from a Republic of States to a no borders land with international rulers. Americans had better understand these enemies even as Donald Trump takes office.

Ok, 3rd person who misunderstood me. I guess my writing was poor. What I >>>> i think most of us understood you were merely questioning a person who called trump a con man would want to support said con man around the world.

Well, it’s not like the ‘barrage of attacks from the MSM’ haven’t been happening.

Trump has defended Petraeus for months.

Are you saying you prefer RINO Romney as SOS?

Please President-elect Trump. Give much thought to this decision. This guy is a major weasel.

I had considerable disappointment and animosity with Mittens. A failed effort where from my perch he seemed to just give up on the Presidency. I trudged reluctantly to the polls and supported him. His Trump comments were almost traitorous, but half truthful exaggerations. I wish he had never made them. Clearly he is not loyal to many of the values most of us freepers cherish.

Yet a side of me wants to give the old guy a chance to redeem his self-respect. He is a beat man, in fact a severely mauled man. With charity and malice toward none—let him crawl back but keep close tabs on him. He can be removed if need be at the drop of a Trump baseball hat.

I like your train of thought, but I must admit I’m a little nervous about a Romney pick.

Trump has been brilliant and tough as nails through this entire process, I just can’t see him throwing it all away with a Romney pick for SOS.

IMO, Romney is an all-around rotten, evil person.

If I were not a Christian I would... well, let's just say that what I would say about mittens romney wouldn't be allowed to stay posted and I would probably be banned from FR for SIX MONTHS!

I can say this: President Elect Trump, you have to be out of your mind to even consider placing this walking bag of slimy human, "used car salesman", feces ANYWHERE NEAR ANYTHING WITHIN YOUR ADMINISTRATION.

Romney is nothing but a venomous snake! And you can't believe a single word of "apologies" coming out of his duplicitous pie-hole

He is an utterly weak, feckless, two-faced weasel! Foreign Ambassadors and heads of state would walk all over this clown who makes John Kerry look like Benjamin Franklin in comparison.

You want a real Secretary of State? A real "Alpha male" man who loves America and has America's interests at heart and not his own; a man who is honorable, "shoots straight", and is widely feared, AND respected all over the world; a "tough negotiator" then:

John Bolton is THE MAN FOR THE JOB!

Again, you summarize it perfectly. I don’t think this ends without a civil war at some point. A civil war where one side is ultimately crushed.
