I never get that kind of fun. Our Thanksgivings has always been just our family and we always agree on this stuff. My kids are all strongly conservative in their values and votes.
It’s kind of cool. I’m only one guy and I get to vote five times, legally.
Having them come is sort of like visiting the zoo, only the zoo visits me, then leaves. Once a year, for a few hours, is entertainment.
No idea how my lovely wife came out of that mess. She's pretty much apolitical, leaning conservative - especially since she met me. Her friends and family range from "Normal and Sensible" to "Conservative Southern Democrat" to "Senseless Barking Detached From Reality Moonbat" (me: "Nice Outside Today, isn't it?" her: "How can you think it's nice outside when a hateful sexist bigot like Trump is ascending to power? I HATE my LIFE!! AAAAIIIII!!!"). It's so stereotypical, almost cartoonish.
She keeps some of these people around because she's too nice to kick them to the curb. 'Tis one of the myriad of reasons I married her, she's far kinder than I am and always finds the good in people.
Whereas, I hate people. :-) We complement each other well.
