Republican Sen. Ted Cruz signaled willingness to fill the late Justice Antonin Scalia’s seat on the U.S. Supreme Court Friday afternoon at a conference of conservative and libertarian lawyers in Washington, D.C.
“What I will say is that history is long and can take unexpected paths,” he said in response to an audience question about his filling the vacancy. “I think it is absolutely vital that that seat and every other seat that comes vacant on the court be filled by principled constitutionalists who will be faithful to the law and will check their own policy preferences at the door and simply honor their oath.”
“And I look forward to continuing to carry out that responsibility and continuing to fight for the principles of freedom and the principles embodied in the Constitution and Bill of Rights,” he added.
Though Cruz is not among the 21 jurists named to President-elect Donald Trump’s list of possible Supreme Court nominees, rumors abound on Capitol Hill that his name is in serious contention.

Cruz interpretation of the Constitution includes anchor baby rights and he even thinks he was eligible to be U.S. President. Some Constitutionalist! I vote NO.
It certainly would. It can also wait. I think it’s reasonable to expect that Bader Ginsburg might need replacing, too, plus maybe Kennedy. And we’ll just wait and see about the wise Latina with the richness of her experience.
Cruz really needs some professional help at this point.

Cruz has to much baggage for a confirmation hearing. The press would eat him alive. That kill the gays video isn’t going away.

And the lesson that we learn from this is not to support or help any candidate for office until we can dig deep into their past (and their spouses- extended family.)
Too many duplicitous lying unqualified faux conservative candidates.
I think Trump has to stick to his original list. Otherwise he would look disingenuous. Maybe the next opening… That should be Ruth Buzzi.
