Kushner vs. Christie: The nasty Trump transition fight that goes back a decade
CNN ^ | November 16, 2016 | Gregory Krieg

Posted on 11/17/2016 5:16:04 AM PST by detective

The first time Chris Christie squared off with a Kushner, the scene was a federal court and the outcome -- along with all the tabloid drama -- helped vault the future governor of New Jersey into the Republican elite.

His opponent then, in the early 2000s, was the billionaire real estate developer Charles Kushner. Also a prominent Democratic political donor, Kushner's criminal tax evasion and witness tampering case won Christie, then a US attorney, triumphant headlines in the country's largest media market.

Kushner's father was a tax cheat.

Chritie got him convicted.

Kushner is out to get Christie and everyone associated with him.

TRUMP didn’t know this happened when he first got Christie on his team almost a year ago? This suddenly popped up? I don’t get it.

Christie has a lot to hide. He sure snuggled up to Obama. Christie knocked Tom Tancredo a conservative out of the race for Governor of Colorado. Makes you wonder what else he is involved in.

If it causes you undue "concerns", please take them home with you. There were much bigger fish to fry and Trump has already exhibited a willingness to make modifications as required. Get it?

This reason for Trump backing away from Christie is highly over-rated. Romney also backed away from Christie after considering him for VP early on. Something is amiss with Christie despite his good record as a prosecutor.

It’s been widely reported that

1. Trump wasn’t happy that Christie was stacking the appointees with lobbyists

2. Trump felt Christie was more involved with Bridgegate than he admitted

3. It’s PENCE that’s clearing out the lobbyists that Christie was putting in

Not sure how it’s Kuschner’s fault that Christie doesn’t get it.

That’s right! Forgot about that. Could be that Christie is too much about Christie.

I don’t visit the sins of the father on the son, but Kushner Sr. and his brothers are the biggest scumbags in Jersey-which is saying a lot. I have dealt with both on a professional level. I am sure Donald was not happy his daughter married into that family but either love is blind or the son went thenopposite way of his dad like I did with mine.

Chelsea’s FIL is a felon, and Tapper was her MIL’s press secretary and a life-long family friend.

Did CNN report that?

Christie is just nasty.

Trump obviously leaned on those in politics he knew best, such as Manafort, who was a longtime tenant in Trump tower, and Christie, who was the governor of a state where Trump had casinos. But as the campaign went on his options improved, Christie looked worse out of Bridgegate, and his SIL proved more valuable and involved than he could have anticipated.

Trump isn’t afraid to fix things he hasn’t got quite right in their first iteration—which is a good trait.

Christie had nothing to offer. He hasn’t been popular in years, and he’s not a conservative.

I agree. Christie should have a statue in his honor for putting that @sshole in jail. Having said that, I’m sure his close ties to GWB are a problem for Trump.

I am thrilled that Trump won and is going to be president, but to be fair he doesn’t always have the best reputation with those who had dealt with him either—whether investors or small-time contractors.

Real estate is a very tough business and only those who operate by a tough code seem to do well at the level of those two families.

CNN is the media wing of the DNC. If they told me it was raining, I’d look out the window.

Pence is Trump’s consigliere. If you’re good enough for Pence you’re good enough for me. If you’re not, well, too bad.
