Donald Trump has taken the unprecedented step of requesting his son-in-law, Jared Kushner, receive top-secret clearance to join him for his Presidential Daily Briefings, which began Tuesday.
Multiple sources tell NBC News Trump received his first briefing on Tuesday and designated both Kushner and Ret. Gen. Michael Flynn as his staff-level companions for the briefings going forward.
While Flynn has the necessary security clearance, Kushner does not, and it could take weeks — or even longer — for him to receive it.

Maybe you should watch fewer spy movies. Trump has a right to choose anyone he wants as advisors, which, surprise! includes people he trusts. He relies on his family for business advice, not because they’re family, but because they’re talented, and he trusts them. Because they run his business should have nothing to do with it. They just need to sign a confidentiality agreement, or whatever other agreements any other advisors sign. It’s his transition team, not Cabinet posts.

Ivanka’s husband - apparently he played a very key role in Trump’s campaign and had a big hand in the win.
Don’t you need clearance just to look at files on potential appointees?
He’s only asking now because he’s not President yet. As President, he can grant clearances himself. He’s obviously trying to get the transition team moving as quickly as possible.
Why is this news? It most certainly is NOT unprecedented.

If Hillary had gotten clearance for Chels, she would have committed at least a few less felonies while Secretary of State.
Jared was supposed to have pushed (along with Ryan and McConnell) for making Priebus chief of staff. Ivanka is clearly a liberal, and I think Trump does need to wean himself on his reliance on them.
It is kind of cute and sweet that he seems to have developed such a good working relationship with his kids in his family business and by all accounts Jared is a pretty shrew guy, but let’s hope this transition period is indeed a transition period.
