The Swiss foreign ministry is in the spotlight for donating nearly 500,000 francs to the Clinton Foundation in 2011, when Switzerland and the US were locked in a dispute over tax evasion.

The donation, revealed by the Schweiz am Sonntag newspaper on Sunday, was made by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (DEZA), which is overseen by the Swiss foreign ministry. […]

At the time, the US and Switzerland were embroiled in a dispute over banking secrecy after allegations that Swiss banks were helping US clients to dodge taxes. The US was pressuring Switzerland to force banks to hand over customer data.

Hillary Clinton, then US Secretary of State, was involved in diplomatic negotiations on the matter with Micheline Calmy-Rey, at the time Switzerland’s foreign minister and therefore also in charge of DEZA. Questions are now being asked as to whether the donation created a conflict of interests. …

It really seems like there were TWO US governments.

And the stronger one belonged to Hillary.

The US of HILLARY.

FR POSTED: Hillary hadn’t even finished unpacking her things in her new office at the State Department after Barack Obama appointed her when a situation was dumped in her lap. The Swiss government was concerned that the IRS was suing UBS AG – one of the biggest banks in Switzerland – to get them to reveal the identities of tens of thousands of clients. (Wall Street Journal)

If the case proceeded, Switzerland’s largest bank would face an impossible choice: Violate Swiss secrecy laws by handing over the names, or refuse and face criminal charges in U.S. federal court.

Within months, Mrs. Clinton announced a tentative legal settlement—an unusual intervention by the top U.S. diplomat. UBS ultimately turned over information on 4,450 accounts, a fraction of the 52,000 sought by the IRS, an outcome that drew criticism from some lawmakers who wanted a more extensive crackdown.

Well, the Swiss may have gotten off pretty easy, but at least a compromise had been reached, right? Job well done, Mrs. Clinton. Peace is maintained between the US and an influential ally. And now we can all go about our business. Except for one disturbing aspect of the story which cropped up in the following months.

From that point on, UBS’s engagement with the Clinton family’s charitable organization increased. Total donations by UBS to the Clinton Foundation grew from less than $60,000 through 2008 to a cumulative total of about $600,000 by the end of 2014, according the foundation and the bank.

The bank also joined the Clinton Foundation to launch entrepreneurship and inner-city loan programs, through which it lent $32 million. And it paid former president Bill Clinton $1.5 million to participate in a series of question-and-answer sessions with UBS Wealth Management Chief Executive Bob McCann, making UBS his biggest single corporate source of speech income disclosed since he left the White House.

The WSJ is quick to point out that there is no evidence of any link between these events, but at what point does coincidence become too much to ignore? You’re talking about one of the richest, most powerful financial entities on the planet who, up until Clinton took over at state, had given a grand total of $60K to the foundation. (An amount which likely fell well short of how much USB spent on coffee and donuts during the same period.) And then, in a matter of weeks, the cash spigots opened up and increased tenfold over the next six years.

Tens of millions in loans to efforts supported by the foundation were in addition to a direct set of cash deposits into Bill Clinton’s pocket totally $1.5M… not the foundation’s coffers. And if I remember correctly, Bill and Hill were still filing their taxes jointly at the time, weren’t they?

The Swiss bank got a truly sweet deal and millions of dollars flowed immediately thereafter into the accounts of both the Clintons and their foundation. So we are asked to accept that there no causal relationship between these two sets of data points. We can’t prove that there is absent some secret recording turning up, but at what point can the media say that this beggars belief and the empress has no clothes?

“not wise” for a neutral country like Switzerland to donate to the foundation of a former president,

To say nothing about donating to the foundation of the Sitting Secretary of State with whom you are negotiating! How freaking brazen is that! And did the negotiations suddenly take a different tack, pray tell???

“This donation was doubtless unwise, but I nevertheless find it hard to believe that it’s possible to ‘buy’ the US for 500,000 francs,”

Not hard to believe at all. The Clintons have a history of selling us out cheap. Loral ring a bell? They make it up on volume.

Get some good Jarlsberg cheese. You’ll forget all about Swiss (although I must confess a fondness for Emmentaler).

There is absolutely NO legal reason for a foreign government to contribute money to the Clinton Foundation. NONE. Foreign governments need tax deductions?????

Where am I wrong here?

NOTE: Teneo Consulting was long-suspected of being the toll road big money and foreign govts used to gain access to the Clintons. This item is confirmation.

============================================

A 2011 in-house Clinton Foundation investigation forced Clinton crony, Doug Band, to draft a memo spelling out, in vivid detail, the many entangled relationships between himself, Teneo, the Clinton Foundation and Hillary's State Dept. A Wikileaks dump included Band's memo which reveals, for the first time, the precise financial flows between the Clinton Foundation, Band’s firm Teneo Consulting, and the Clinton family’s private business endeavors.

FR POSTED---Bill and Hillary’s sleazy road to riches
(still slobbering at the public trough after all these years)

(hat tip NY Post) Excerpt....the latest WikiLeaks underline everything we’ve heard about the Clintons' sleazy drive to enrich themselves.

In the 2011 memo, Bill's ex-presidential aide, Doug Band, openly boasted about Teneo's activities raising millions for the Clinton Foundation and for Clinton personally from his Teneo business clients.

Band described the MO as “Bill Clinton Inc.” Band bragged about his repeated extortions---that his strong-arming Big Buck clients and foreign rulers "helped" the Clintons use their government service to feather their own nest.

Band’s Teneo clients were pressed to give millions to the foundation — and millions more to Bill. At that time, Teneo had raised $8M for the foundation and $3M in paid speeches for Bill.

Plus, Teneo had also set up “more than $50M in for-profit” business deals for the ex-president, with contracts worth $66M more.....doesn’t include loads of perks: “in-kind” freebies, vacations, private jets, etc.

This circle of enrichment was a one-hand-washes-the-other arrangement.

After her sexting hubby’s career nose-dived, Hillary aide, Huma Abedin, needed help to make ends meet. Hillary facilitated Huma's cashing in bigtime: (a) at Teneo, (b) pocketing a Clinton Foundation salary, and, (c) Abedin cashing US govt checks from the State Dept.

==========================================

Abedin’s sex-obsessed husband, Anthony Weiner, would later brag of how easy it is to earn big money in private-sector consulting.

Sure it's easy, Anthony, if you're selling US ntl decurity secrets.
