No, they don’t have inappropriate power. The **Country** is not just people. It’s also territory. The territory must have some sort of representation.
North Dakota’s oil is in an area where almost no one lives. Farmland is something of TOTAL value to the country, and no one lives there. The military is sworn to protect the US. Not just the people of the US.
The founding fathers did a pretty good job on all this.
