A crowd of around forty people gathered on Goodell Lawn quickly turned into a march of more than a hundred people protesting the election of Donald Trump to the Presidency of the United States.
Carrying paper signs reading love trumps hate, students gathered in a circle came to the center to talk about the next steps for organizing against Trumps inauguration.
My mind is a mess right now. The whole country is a mess, said Kyle Hartman, theater major. We are fighting for our lives and thats what needs to be heard.
Hartman, who said he is a gay white man, said he was petrified by the idea of a Trump presidency, citing running mate Mike Pences support for gay conversion therapy.
Ryan Frisby, BDIC major, said she came to the gathering out of a need to be around other people still processing Trumps victory.
I just felt really devastated and drained by this whole experience, she said. Its really important to see this number of people here and realize the fight isnt over.
Frisby said she expected to see organization against Trumps election begin, and said she was happy people were still processing the result at Goodell.
Hannah Burbidge, psychology major, said she came to experience an outlet for support and to begin organizing as well.
A lot of people are saying theyre done with this election and theyre turning it off, she said. Most of the country doesnt have that privilege. I have people Im worried about that are directly effected by this.
At this point about 120 people began to march to the lawn between the Student Union and the Campus Center, chanting love trumps hate, this is what democracy looks like, and black lives matter.
When the crowd reached their destination, other groups began to form to watch them, as one passerby shouted, Trump won, get over it.
Were gonna get a lot of that, Hartman said. We need to make sure this is peaceful. We need to unite and not make more enemies.
Hartman also argued that although Trump won the Electoral College, a victory by Hillary Clinton in the popular vote would compromise the legitimacy of his election, and that the people who voted for her needed to go.
After returning to the Goodell lawn, Hartman told the crowd about plans organized at Temple University to march against Trumps election, and said a similar event would occur in solidarity at Goodell Library on Friday at 12:30 or 1 p.m.

Yesterday, a crowd of 50,000,000 gathered to protest Hillary Clinton’s election.
Terrifying!
Suck it up buttercups!
Only 100 out of almost 30 K student body. Come on I thought U Mass was Berkeley East.
More than 100 people!
Wow! I am unimpressed.
That’s more than most of Hillary’s rallies!
“Crowd of more than a hundred gathers ...”
...”A crowd of around forty people gathered on ...”
Ok. Wha?
Oh dear. More than one hundred?
That was about the size of her rallies.
Hey, bll, it looks like Cornell has competition.
Another future Millenial parasite.
Sore losers. It seems everytime Trump kicks political @$$ the whining and crying starts.
Fixing their signs:
Trump’s LOVE trumps our HATE.
check their ID and deport them!
If we keep talking about the left’s reaction to Trump being elected, then he’ll have less of a mandate. Don’t worry about what the left is saying!
I just felt really devastated and drained by this whole experience, she said. Its really important to see this number of people here and realize the fight isnt over.
Wait... 40 people???
Let us not waste our time or energy in giving these people, the leftist media, leftist academia and academics any more attention, by posting their inane emotionalism and ignorance. They do not deserve any more of our time or concern. They have cared not for our feelings these past 8 years. We were told to eat our peas, remember? We are racists, remember? We are Deplorables, remember? Our political signs were stolen, violence was instigated at our rallies by them! No more. They are not classical liberals anymore. They are communists. Brown shirt bullies.
It is morning in America again.
There is work to be done! We must plan.
Let’s begin to unleash our energy towards righting this great vessel with President Elect Trump.
Milo? Some students need you!
