It’s a different time zone than Miami. I think it was 2000 that the networks called Florida for Gore before the polls closed in the panhandle. Then there were the thousands of military absentee votes that got “lost.” And then the dems whined about the fact that Gore only lost by a few hundred votes.

Oh yes, I remember the panhandle debacle in 2000.
FReepers, if you know Anyone in the Panhandle, call, text, email - get em' out to Vote! Call anyway, even if you think they voted and have them go get others to Vote! Charge!

The Florida military votes were not "lost." At the time Florida law required absentee ballots to be notarized. That's hard to find on a ship at sea or a foreign post. The Dems sent an army of lawyers into every Florida county and protested every military ballot that was not notarized. The Republicans brought a lawsuit challenging the requirement as unconstitutional.
After Bush v. Gore and the election was certified, the suit was dismissed as moot. I think Florida has since changed that law.
Think about that the next time you hear some Democrat bleat about how they "support the troops." Yeah, right, just not their right to vote.
