Tennessee Kids Vote Donald Trump for President

Scholastic's poll of kids across the country included Tennessee youth who narrowly backed the businessman.

NASHVILLE, TN — If kids in Tennessee could vote, they would elect Donald Trump to be the 45th president of the United States.

That's according to the results of a Scholastic poll, which included 153,000 kids nationwide from kindergarten through 12th grade voting by online and mail-in ballot.

In Tennessee, Donald Trump received 45 percent of the vote, compared with Hillary Clinton's 42 percent. Thirteen percent of kids voted for somebody else. See the national Scholastic results.

Scholastic was sure to clarify, though, that the poll is "not based on a scientifically designed sample of the student population." Instead, "It is an educational activity meant to give students an opportunity to express their opinions about the 2016 presidential election."

Real Clear Politics notes the two most recent polls in Tennessee, back in early October, had Trump up 10 points and 11 points.

I believe states with LARGE Hispanic families probably skewed the vote - but that’s also America’s future.

My son said that kids feel pressured to vote with the politically correct choice. They did not want to be called a racist.

Kids probably vote reflecting the opinions of their parents. Absent is the impact of voters with no kids - seniors and young voters who are childless.

This is chilling. It is like the movie Idiocracy come to life. The power of NEA liberal teachers is beyond control and the first step is to get rid of Common Core. If possible, GET KIDS OUT OF UNION-CONTROLLED PUBLIC SCHOOL!!!! And anyone with an extra hour of free time, retired or not, children or none, get INVOLVED with the CURRICULUM COMMITTEE of your public school.

And come to St. Louis at the end of January for the 2017 Education Conference! All we have left is each other...

Lots of Tennessee kids are home schooled, too. Parents are refusing to have their kids indoctrinated so they home school. Nothing left but good little liberals in the public school system.

You have to take in account many conservative background kids attend private Catholic, Christian schools or are home schooled. I believe this was a poll of public schools.
