US Justice Department to dispatch fewer election observers

Justice Department officials are warning that they will be dispatching fewer specially trained election observers this year as a result of a Supreme Court opinion that gutted a key provision of the Voting Rights Act.

The reduction is likely to diminish the department’s ability to detect voter intimidation and other potential problems at the polls. It comes as more than a dozen states have adopted new voting and registration rules, and as Republican candidate Donald Trump warns without evidence that the Nov. 8 election will be rigged and exhorts his followers to be vigilant against unspecified fraud.

“It’s cause for concern,” said Dale Ho, director of the ACLU's Voting Rights Project. “It’s hard to know ahead of time how significant a problem it’s going to be.”

Justice Department officials said they still will dispatch hundreds of staffers to the polls and expect to have them in at least as many states as during the 2012 election, when they sent more than 780 to 23 states. …

That’s interesting, “specially trained”. How and for what?

Wikileads exposed some at AP for being in the pocket of Clinton campaign. I am not sure if this guy was on the list or not, but could find out.

Justice Department's power, the government would work to "ensure that every voter can cast his or her ballot free of unlawful intimidation, discrimination, or obstruction."

Sorry for anyone reading this article and thinking the Justice Department was going to be out here observing for a fair election. If one reads what the article it is talking about it has nothing to do with what WE think they should be doing. It is about making sure all those bussed in dead people get to vote, it is about every provisional ballot cast 7 times is counted, etc.

My voting location is inside a HUD tenant building. When I went to vote for the primary parking was nearly impossible! This left me having to WALK from the back parking area(no security) to the front polling location inside. I was more than a little unnerved and intimidated. And of course here in Cuyahoga County no cellphones or guns (open/concealed) are permitted in polling locations. Unfortunately Justice Department Observers are not there to protect me or my Right to Vote.

Precisely.

Every attempt to secure the sanctity of the ballot box is defined by the left as “voter suppression”.

This is like asking the Gestapo to monitor free elections. Government GOONS there to intimidate, coerce and cover up election fraud.

The location is as important as the number. I’d guess Phily gets 0 while some white/uneducated counties in Pennsylvania get many. And there certainly won’t be any in the locations the dem busses go.

Gestapo ? You mean like the Philly Gestapo Deputies who refused to let observers in Philly observe even after Alito’s orders? I think all these places need US Marshall escorts to get observers in - in 2024.

The DOJ under Biden is the Gestapo any way you look at it.
